First studio(non-live) recordings done with new setup and Splat

Recorded last fall and didn't listen for a few months. Sound ok to me on relisten so I'm taking the plunge and posting them.
Two songs from my band The Enablers:

Homeless City: crap I love that flange on that guitar. Bass is really really sounding good. Fun, fun riff.
Your rhythm switch-up is timed perfectly.

Ever hear of a band called Heavy Brothers? You might check 'em out. This kind of stuff.

Thanks Tom!Actually tracked the guitar and bass first and the drummer last. Bass was through a MoogerFooger and the guitar flange was a boutique pedal. Yeah there is a measure of 9/8 we had thought was 5/4 at the transition - once we worked that out it all fell in place.
Checked out the Heavy Brothers, cool stuff. Unfortunately our horns are just overdubbed, we don't have them live (once a year, lol)

Nice song. Vocals are a bit to the back and should come forward. It sounds like everything else is pretty good.

    Nice work.
On Homeless City I would do the 3 words in the verses that are after the hyphens, staccato.
ie: Homeless city_________ - on the run tat tat tat, fast; 32nd notes maybe
If I was producing, that's what I would have lobbied for.
    Again, enjoyed the listen.

any fun tune "August"....the vox definitely needs to move forward some and lacks weight. Lots of great stuff going on and a bit more time working this would bring out the best in it.

    Good job!

This is bathed in sunlight!  However my only nit is the lack of deviation of the verse melody.  It could use a little switch now and then. :D:D

Thanks, y'all! I raised the vocals a bit and re-uploaded August.

Since I was recording the songwriter of Homeless City on the vocals I didn't really ponder critiquing them - good suggestion though. The same critical ears might have changed up the melody on August, again written by a bandmate. I'll definitely consider more constructive ideas in regards to the vocals of others. Vocals do seem to be where people can be the most sensitive to criticism so I'll try to be gentle. It's not like I didn't stomp on everything else arrangement and production wise - esp the trumpets on both, lol.

Nice, really solid rock tunes...   Mixes sound pretty "live" too IMO, so well done.    They sort have of an early-70s vibe for me.
