First take always shown on top in parent track

No matter how I order the take lanes, the first take lanes recorded takes priority in terms of what shows up on top in the parent track. What if I want to use and display take 3? Do I always need to be viewing take 1 whe take lanes are folded up unless I completely delete it?

On the top lane click the + to insert a new lane.
Move the new empty lane to the top position.
Now select the "Clip" you want to show to the top lane.
Use SHIFT+Left mouse to move the clip (take).

    Thanks for the tip!
Seems like a good way to spend 30 mins on a large session.

Perhaps it's just something I'm doing wrong, but this doesn't work.
I click + to add a new take lane and move all "active" takes to the new lane.
Fold it up so just the parent track is visible, and the most recent take is still the one being seen.  No matter where it is in the listing of lanes, the newest take is always visible.

Is this because I'm mixing an X1-recorded project in X2?

I've found that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Your only option is to create a new track and copy the clips you want displayed to the new track.  You can then archive the old track.

Take lanes are a half-baked feature just as layers were half-baked.

The only hope is that CW does not abandon development of take lanes like they did with layers.  As you are already aware user selection of what gets displayed on a collapsed track was a feature request dating back many years and it still hasn't happened.  I wouldn't be holding my breath for it any time soon.

We could probably request the randomize everything also known as "Rebuild Layers" and have that implimented faster.

    Sorry can't be of help.

Doesn't the take lane order define the Z-Order of clip display on the collapsed track? I though that's how it worked.

No sir it does not.  First thing I did was move all "active" clips to Lane 1, and I still was forced to see the muted clip on Lane 5 when folded.

I liked layers, because I knew how to finagle them, and because THIS bug wasn't an issue.
If I could view the active clip when folded it'd be fine for me.  I can't do any real editing with track lanes because they only zoom in so much, so I need to folder the track and work with the parent... but often I'm not able to see the clip that's active.

I now see why everyone is complaining about this being 1/2 baked.
And I now see why there are no videos of people doing more than simple editing with layers.
If I'm wrong, please show me the video cause I definitely wanna learn!
