Flame Fractal Video...

Hi Peeps,

I was deliberating whether to put this here or in the Coffee House... Decided here might be best, perhaps... Dunno.

I've been hankering after putting my music to video, or visa versa, for some time. I looked into finding some stock sci-fi video footage, but there is very little out there, and, unlike us musicians, who appear to be more than happy about giving our music away for free, video produces want big bucks for their creations.

I had considered creating a video out of stills, and might still do that yet, but I have been fascinated by fractals for may years now. I'm not sure what it is but I just find that I can stare are fractal images for hours at a time and I am always amazed at what can be done with the various software packages.

For this video I finally decided to give Chaotica a go, which is a flame fractal generator which can also create animations.

The music I chose (I use the music term loosely here) is also an experimental piece and I have never posted it here for that very reason. I bought Reaktor late last year and this piece features that, and also Adaptiverb.

So, here it is, what do you think?

cheers

andy

(it appears I need help with embedding video...)

(I think the video didn't show, even though I appeared to have had the correct text, because I must have hit enter after posting the link and the forum software changed it to a hyperlink. I'll remember that for next time...)

I really liked it Andy (the audio and video).....I think fractals are just perfect for your music!! I loved the sounds going through all those filters....noice!!!
Fractals reminds me of the (random) Alchemy preset in the Windows Media Player which syncs to the audio.....my go to setting. Fractals would've been a perfect setting for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.....or some Floydian trips.

Hi again Mesh, it was the first one you posted. The second one you posted, which I created before the other one, wasn't as good on the graphics front, so I didn't bother shouting about that one. But you've done it for me! Cheers dood

Hahaha! Thanks Wookiee!

Talking of time suspension... It took a total of seven hours to render the images for that video and then another hour or so to put it all together

Nice work, love the video and unfortunately even with todays computer power fractals take a long time to render. I do find putting music to video helps immensely in the creative process, especially in this genre.

THAT was some pretty far out stuff, Andy... even for you .  I loved it, though I think watching it for too long could start to alter my consciousness.

Thanks Adrian, Daryl, David and Phil

I'm working on my next project now. Could be some time before I complete. What I am going to attempt to do for my next video, is create the video first and then use that to inspire the accompanying music.

At least that's the plan, anyway

Andy, speaking of creating a video.......I saw this and immediately though of you (as a matter fact, every time I see the words fractals, fractions, fractures....I think of you ). Hopefully, this might possibly stir up some ideas for your next track?

Thanks Mesh,

I think a lot of stuff in that video has been created with Mandlebulb and I've tried, but failed to get my head around that one, for some reason. I think I'm going to have to stick with the easy 2D stuff for now

cheers
