Flowers (Variations)-A comeback!!! NEW MASTER!

http://soundcloud.com/aaudiomystiks/flowers-variations
Ok time for something new- My "comeback" track! It's been a while since I have put a guitar track down, recorded any vocals or even presented a finished track, but here it is!!!  This is an experimental track- a bit of Bolan, a bit of Beatles and some very experimental moments.  Enjoy!!

Peace Ben

ok, I started w/the volume way down so I could turn it up a bit. (my ears were blown out by 3 women? And not in a way that I enjoy either.)

It's like a Dave Matthews thang? That rotary effect is exaggerated by phones, kinda makes me dizzy (my head is spinnin, like a whirlpool it never ends) It's very interesting, but I would use this as the intro, and then maybe have a coda? Or something to transition beyond the two chords. Like in the pink floyd song where it transitions in to Breath?

Hey Robbie, I agree in that its an intro but I would say that it's more of an intro track for an album, then it would segue way into next the track.  Pity albums don't exist anymore.  But this is def a sound or instruments that I am going to keep using for the forseable future.

Not bad as far as it goes Ben, you have some cool production ideas in there. Hanging it all on just 2 chords seemed a shame though, and I lost interest at around 2 mins, sorry.

    Hey Ben
I really enjoyed this piece.  Love the recording of the acoustic and the simple chord progression that turned into a hook that I keep hummmming in my head.  I agree with James a lot of cool production ideas that keep the ears happy.  The mix is sounding good on my end.  Love the analog vibe/space I'm hearing.
If I had to nit on the mix it would be the synth sound that comes in around 1:31.  It takes away from that earthy/acoustic/gritty analog feel the rest of the instruments have.  It's sounds to clean/modern sounding IMO.  Any hoot. . . killer piece from the production to the performance.  KUDOS!

Woah... tooo hot. Its a mess of distortion here. Get the levels under control, and I will listen again, but right I cant get through more than 10 seconds.

Hey guys, James fair point, I was stuck for ideas I had a cool introduction but wanted to extend it. Thanks Kev and Daryl.

Shad what are you hearing and is anyone else hearing, is it possible that the problem is at your end?  Is anyone hearing what Shad hearing? I have used a smattering of tube distortion real and simulated through out the track.  Maybe it's soundcloud?  Let me know if anyone can hear what shad hears?

    Thank and peace Ben

Ben, I love the song, and your vocal.  You have proven to have quite a range of vocal prowess.  The mastering is pretty loud here, but not distorting.  This could be a huge winner with a bridge or a little something extra in the structure.  Still, me gusta!

Thanks Lynn and John.  I've had a listen on my Iphone and yes it was a little hot but I should have known that, it was reading a little hot on the KMeter.  I will go back and take it down tad later today.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Thanks Frank, yea even after all the years of abuse of my vocal chords, my vocals are actually gettign better and stronger.

I've updated the mix and turned it down about one and a half DB, Shad if you read this let me know if that is sounding any better.  And if ir's not if you have any suggestions let me know cheers.

Cool tune Ben, and I like the production work on it too.  I've got a soft spot for tunes with just a few chords that nonetheless manage to evolve and be interesting.  Fine work.

Ahhhh, "The Wall..." It is an experience, I remember the 1st time I heard it.

Today I haven't been blown (out) by 3 woman so I was able to enjoy this more. My ears were hurting the 1st time I listened to this, but this mix sounds much better to me. And the fact that the rotary is used more as an effect in this version. While it is throughout, it seems to come in and out a bit. I'm not sure what else is different (EQ?) But this is better.

Hey Robbie the only thing I've changed is I've backed the track off by about 1 and a half DB and lessened the tube stage on my TL Audio A2.  Thanks for listening Phil.

I would say at times, the vocals were stretched way beyond their capable range. (about at the 1 minute mark). After about that duration the monotonous drone became quite boring. Need to add some changes to keep the listeners interested.
