Focusrite Liquid Channel and Windows 8 /X2a 351 x64
Do any of you own a Liquid Channel rack unit. I have just recently purchased one but can not connect it to windows 8. I have tried all of the ID settings etc... the unit is just not recognised. This isn't a problem for me as the unit is usable without the connectivity... but I just wondered if any one has it working. Also as an added bonus... If you do own one.. what have you found to be useful settings for Voice Over and Vocals. I am using a Silver2 preamp and the Brit Tube compressor with my Telefunken Copper Top Mic. Thanks in advance, Gary

I have one but its connected to an XP Machine - what I also have (but cannot use) is a Focusrite Liquid Mix - this I would normally use on my main machine windows 7 64bit. But Focusrite have never updated the software so now it just sits in the cupboard - I wonder whether it is the same problem with the Liquid Chanel - have you checked their website?? Nigel

HI Nigel. Thanks for the reply. I have checked their website and with their tech support.. they no about the problem and don't have a fix of yet. To be real honest I don't think they will have a fix. I just thought someone on the forum maybe had a work around. What do you think of the product yourself?? I have managed to get some real nice colour out of the machine. Gary

Gary I think the only workaround is to get yourself a cheap old 32bit windows XP notebook / laptop and just use that to control it! I just kept one of my old machines when I upgraded. Whilst not so important these days as Computer power has increased so dramatically, I have kept most of my old machines that I have upgraded this past 6 / 7 years and linked them all into a network using Vienna Pro, which does allow for all types (XP / WIndows 7 / 8 , 32bit / 64bit) to talk and work together for increased processing power - also handy if one should go wrong you still have something to work on!! I've had the Liquid channel for many years now and use it all the time, especially when recording vocals / acoustic guitars etc - I find it very easy to get what I want - and I know we were talking originally about connectivity to computers, but quite often I just make any adjustments etc through the Liquid Chanel front panel Hope all goes well Nigel

I know nothing about this unit, but if it has drivers (and software) try installing them in a compatibility mode for Windows XP and see if that helps. I've gotten some older hardware and software to install in later Operating Systems that way. Not everything will work or install with the compatibility mode, but its worth a try.

HI firebird. I have tried the compatibility modes.. but its no joy im afraid on my windows 8 system. Nigel... I don't know why I didn't think about using an old computer... feel a little bit dum now... lol It was the ability to save all my own presets in a instance that I wanted the quick facilty.. and recall.
I am thinking of buying another unit so I can process in stereo. I got mine quite cheap
