Focusrite Saffire 40, SonarX1 and windows7

Needing to record drums so I moved from my old Cakewalk sps-66 to a Focusrite Saffire 40. It shows up and can be selected in audio devices. It auto reset to 44.1 sample rate and as it says it is asio compatible, that is what I set it for. I appear to have the correct input selected on my track in a project, but there is no sound registering and when I start to record I get a pop-up message that says "may not be compatible with project format etc" Any ideas what I should be doing here? Thanks

did you make sure and download and install the latest driver updates for the presonus?

you need to verify that your sampling rate in sonar is the same as the sampling rate in the presonus software.

Solved in part. It was suggested I try using the new interface in a new project and it worked fine there. I just need to find out what is different from a new project and my current project settings in general
