Focusrite Saffire 6 and Sonar X1 Studio compatability

Just installed X1 Studio on an HP machine running Windows 7, AMD Phenom II hexacore processor, 8 MB RAM. Running a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB interface for my audio input/output device. Sonar recognizes the Saffire as far as selecting input/output device, but as soon as I arm a track to record the level meter pegs on red and I get no signal from either a guitar or mic that I have plugged in. I get signal just fine through my monitors and/or headphones, but nothing going into Sonar. If I hit record just get loud static.
Under preferences I have Saffire 6 selected as both the input and output device, under driver settings I have Saffire selected as both the playback and recording timing master, and under playback and recording it says driver mode WDM/KS and dithering triangular. Also has "Use multiprocessing engine" and "Use MMCSS" boxes checked in this window.
Any thoughts/suggestions? I did read the link on this forum to the setting up audio devices - unfortunately Saffire 6 is not listed so was hoping someone else on here is successfully using this interface.
Thanks

I have a Saffire Pro 14 and the instructions recommend ASIO so I use ASIO drivers in Sonar and all seems well.  I don't know if that's your problem but it's worth a try.  There's a video on the Focusrite web site showing how to set up a Saffire and it specifically shows ASIO as the driver to select:

Thanks for the responses. I had viewed that video on the Focusrite site and attempted to use ASIO with no luck. I did, however, solve my issue. Even though I just purchased X1 from Sweetwater this week it occured to me (forgive my newbi-ness) that I might not have the latest versions (X1a and b). Just got done downloading those patches, as well as refreshing my Saffire driver on the Focusrite site, and low and behold, it works! I do notice that by default the driver mode is still WDM/KS but as long as it is working I am not going to change it to ASIO ( I think that video on the Focusrite site is a little old anyway). So thanks for the quick responses and again, forgive me for thinking that just becasue I just bought the program it would be the latest version with all the fixes. Lesson learned.
