FWIW this seems to be for the complete Saffire range, even though there is no update to 3.6 on the LS 56 ŵeb page.
Cheers, Jerry

Seems to be right ( except the interfaces, which are not builded anymore, like the saffire LE) cause till now I installed the same driver for all my focusrite saffire devices- have 3 different of them. Cheers

I was curious about the above post and tried it with my Saffire LE. Unfortunately the new MixControl 3.6 does not appear to recognise the Saffire LE. It is not surprising since it has long been a "legacy" product and they had stopped supporting it some time ago. Still it is a great little interface and has never given me any problems. I must say I was disappointed with Focusrite when they stopped supporting the plugins that came with it. This seemed a bit mean (stingy) since they did include similar, supported addins with their newer products. How much would it cost for them to give them to those who had bought the older interfaces? This experience will certainly make me think twice about purchasing their products in the future. R

Received this from Focusrite, thought it might be of interest here :
"Currently we are still testing Mix Control 3.6 with other Saffires with the intention of fully releasing 3.6 for other Saffires very soon. You should be able to use 3.6 with your LS56, however please note that there may be some issues that we're not aware of. If this is the case, you can revert to Mix Control 3.4/3.5, although we'd ask that you do report the issue to us."
Great news !
Cheers, Jerry

I'm having a problem with this update on my pro24. Two things have happened. I sometimes use the safely remove hardware option when I want to turn off my pro24. I get a message that there is still an application running and to close the app and try again. There is no app running so the drive is not letting go of something but nothing shows in the task manager. The other thing that happened and is why I re-installed 3.4 is that I couldn't get any sound output in any project. All routing was fine but just no sound. I'm going to report this to Focusrite.

Not sure what you mean. I'm using VIA firewire just fine on my motherboard. If you are internal like me then updating your chipset drivers and bios can be a good thing as well. Otherwise check for firmware updates on your card.
What I was referring to earlier was what is set in device manager. If you have VIA congrats you are using a chipset recommended by Focusrite.

I'll give it another try. I'm using TI chipset on my firewire. I'm sure they will have this update working for all Saffire's soon though. I have no issues with 3.4

Good advice Pragi, thanks. I did just what you suggested and, after a quick online chat, Focusrite has given me a "little something" to make up for withdrawing support from my original plugins for the Saffire LE. It looks like the mixer for this unit is frozen at V1.6 so the earlier post that indicates that the new mixer is compatible across the "complete Saffire range" is probably referring to the later units that share the Saffire name. At least for the present. The Saffire LE works quite well with Sonar 2015 and the latency seems low enough for my needs. R

I bought a new Saffire PRO 40 last week, and installed using the latest 3.6 MixControl and drivers from the Focusrite website. I have to say I am absolutely stunned by the performance. I can get latencies as low as 2ms going in, although this is a little too low for my processor to cope. Can change the asio buffers on the fly without having to power cycle the interface as I had to with my previous. Rock solid. Great sound too. Mix Control is truly liberating, dont know how I managed with out it. I also have some questions this week and spoke to Jack in customer service at Focusrite who could not have been more informed and helpful. You guessed, I'm a Focusrite convert !

I just went to search for this to check it out. It is only listed in the Saffire PRO 40 (possibly because it replaces a specific software piece on the PRO 40 that comes up in the text prior to installation). I installed it (resets firewire latency (to medium) and buffers (to 512???)) so I quickly set those back to short and 64 samples, then tested it on the X3 demo file. Very minor pops during playback, but is significantly smoother than 3.4 was for this same project. Very nice first impression of things! Edit: The playback was perfectly smooth by simply bumping up to a 96 sample buffer. Rather impressive.

Sorry to keep banging on but heck... why not... In mixcontrol I was on a buffer size of 128, and medium firewire driver latency before, and now I'm running as good if not better on 64 and short! Wow! The negative side of the coin shows that the drivers have been far from optimal until now. Glad it got spun around... Focusrite did get a little bad "press" lately, the rumours going around were that their firewire interfaces are not the fastest, guess this is their answer to this question.

There may be a reason that MixControl 3.6 is only listed for the Saffire PRO 40. I had two instances where "no sound" occurred on my 24 DSP. The first I found the Windows sound card settings had been altered to another bit depth/sample rate (and set to exclusive mode) - these are also the default for when MixControl is installed, somehow it reverted. The second I couldn't find the cause (even setting the Saffire to Windows default had no sound from any program). Very freaky that second one... I ended up uninstalling 3.6 and put 3.4 back on this machine.
