Folder & length of selection questions (X3)

Hi-

1- Alt+Shift+H opens (or closes if it's already open) the current folder, but doesn't work as a toggle here. Shouldn't it?

2- Is there any way to expand/collapse all folders at once?

3- Does SONAR show the length of the current selection anywhere?

Thanks-

-Susan

I can't even imagine what page this has been bumped to by now, but does anyone know the answer to any of the above? If you have an answer for SONAR 2015 that would be great, too!

    Thanks-

No replies, so I'll try to answer my own questions (X3e Producer; wondering if the same is true for 2015):

    1. Alt+Shift+H doesn't work as a toggle. If you select a collapsed folder and press Alt+Shift+H, the folder will be expanded. However, if you press Alt+Shift+H again with that same folder selected, nothing will happen. However, if you start by selecting an already expanded folder and press Alt+Shift+H, the folder will collapse and the first track in the Track View will be selected.

    2. There's no way to expand/collapse all folders with a single command (that I've found.)

    3. SONAR doesn't show the length of the current selection anywhere, whether it's From to Thru or the Loop Selection or what I'm currently drag-selecting.

I was hoping someone who uses shortcuts for folders would reply. Guess not.

    1) Works as a toggle for me. The key combo awkward. I would create a different binding for the Track View "Open/Close the folder" function if I was to use it much.
    2) I could not find one either
    3) No selection length display that I know of.

The answers are the same for the new version too.

    1. In the New SONAR Platinum it does toggle the folder open/close. You have to make sure that the folder you want to open or close is selected.

    2. Haven't found a way yet but working on it

    3. The only way I've been able to do this is to make a selection then go to the loop module in the Comman Centre and press the Loop selection icon (Shfty L) and subtract the 2 readoutd ie the beginning and end points of the selection. It sounds a lot in reading it but in practice its quite easy.

Sorry for taking so long but had a minute so.

Hope that's a bit of help

    2. I know of no key command to open + close all folders at once, but the "up + down" arrows make the folder a "current" selection - then Alt+Shift+H toggles the folder open or closed.

You can get around it by having a Screenset with all your folders open. Should you need to work with all your folders open use it. That's about the only way I've been able to do it.

    1) It works fine even in X3e. Try it in the default Normal project template.

    2) X3 introduced a bug (CWBRN-24456 )  that opens all folders which I really want fixed. You close all folders before saving a screenset, then switch to another screenset and switch back and click the open/close button of one of the folders and you'll see all folders open.

    Hi scook-

There's something hinky about Alt+Shift+H here that I haven't pinned down yet, since it seems to work as a toggle sometimes and not others. I'll investigate further next chance.

    Thanks!

I did not move around the project like I normally would after messing with the folder so the test may be flawed.

    Hi Mike-

    1. I know I was caught off guard when I closed a folder and the "active track" jumped up to the first one in Track View. I'll experiment with this more next chance.

    2. Not a huge deal, but I could've sworn this used to be possible.  Screensets seem like the answer.

    3. Yeah, another not huge deal, but I think I'll put in a feature request for this.

Thanks for this and your later response!

    Hi Jlien-

    1) This is with the Normal template and it's inconsistent here, but I'll investigate further.

    Thanks!

Try it on another project and see what happens. I have several older projects that I've since opened and use in newer versions that inherit some strange display weirdness not seen in any other projects. They're like little baby bugs since they're otherwise unreproducible.
