Following Another Muse

What revs your motor when you aren't knee deep in the sound pool? Got another art to have torture you? ;)

For me it's graphic arts, 3d, 2d, whatever I feel like making at the time. Here's a couple of pics I've done in the past-

As I find more I'll put them up from time to time :)

Writing software used to fulfill my creative needs. At least it did for the first 25 years or so. Still does to a limited extent, but for the most part it's become just drudgery.

Mostly I toggle between programmer mode, songwriter mode, performer mode and recording engineer mode.

Each mode requires a different mindset and no two can be done well at the same time. So when it comes time to switch modes, I have to clear my brain of all higher-order activity. The preferred catalyst for that switch: video games. Ten minutes as a mindless, ruthless killer and my brain becomes a formless gelatin, ready to be molded to suit the needs of the next task.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I like being outdoors. I have a little Sunfish sailboat that's a lot of fun. And I like moseying around Utah's freaky national and state parks like Goblin Valley, Bear Lake, Zion National Park, Arches, Cascade Springs, Hovenweep.

Can you tell I like Utah?

I like to do needlepoint or go down to train yards and hug hobos.
