Hey John, there seems to be a bit of an explosion here on the forum of almost classical music and what I mean by this is the mocking up of orchestral instruments with their fake cousins.

I actually liked this, the strings were ok, not great but passable.  It sounds good as well.

    Nice work Ben

Thanks Ben for having a listen and comenting, could not resist having a play with the new "free" stings that came with X2.

I know nothing about composing for strings and was just having some fun.

(actualy I know nothing about most things)

Hey John my comment had nothing to do with composition I loved the composition. It was the quality of the sounds.  I'm experimenting with this sort of stuff, although I'm no expert on this either. I just felt at times we could hear the plastic coming through.  I'm having this problem too but I'm working it out.

    Peace Ben

I thought the cow at the end was interesting....hey maybe you need to add some cowbell to go with the cow.... Just kidding don't add cowbell. This song sounds like you had fun making it. I enjoyed hearing it. The new strings sound good and at least the price was right.

Thanks Marcus for the listen and the comment appreciated, I had thought about some "Cow bells" but I agree no.

Ben I fully appreciated that your comment was not directed at my composition skills my friend, your input is always welcome here.

Lord, what did I just step in????

Always nice to hear someone say they're having fun!  Interesting piece.  The string sound was a little weak to me (on my little laptop speakers), but then again, I think string arrangements are very complicated, so nice effort here.  (I know nothing about 'em either)

I hope to have my 1st X2 tune finished this week too...but the guitar gods just aren't looking down on me the past few days..  ugh.

    Cool tune Wookiee.

BTW-   Has shawn had too much caffeine today??  LOL

Yes, I think the strings also were weak, if not needing more high end also. Perhaps not bright enough for me, but nice composition in the end.

But I'll listen on real monitors shortly.  Thanks

Sounds good! Interesting piece. I would add more instruments at the end to build it up like timpanis, trumpets, more strings, but not sure if that is what you want on the piece.

Needs more cowbell!!!!. ;). Strings (and brass) done in midi are hard to get just right... you did a good effort. And I am DEFINITELY no expert.

Hey Wook... just listened on real speakers..  LOL
Yep, the mid-strings definitely sound better on larger speakers.  I think what I'm hearing and mentioned is the "ensemble" strings in places.  Nothing to do with playing... just the quality of the sample... my opinion only.

Now, I've got to get this stuff off my shoes....

    Cheers!
