Fools Rush In
Hi all, Here's another cover we did. It's an old Rick Nelson song. Dave is known for sounding a lot like Ricky Nelson and used to do a lot of his songs back in the band days. Notes: Sonar 8.5.3 PE x64 Session Drummer 3 (Snare, Hi-Hat, Cow Bell, Cymbal) Dim Pro (Bass & Piano) 1984 Gibson Les Paul Custom (Pickin' & Killer lead!) Guitar Rig Pro 4 on the LP Fools Rush In As always comments welcome good or bad. :) Thanks for listening. Bub

This one has an open sound to it , not my kind of song but for those who do like this type of music it sounds good . Alittle less reverb might make it sound even better . Radio

I listen to all types of music for ideals, etc... This takes me back to the late 60's early 70's in a "good way" For me I would not spread the lead vocal so wide and/or simply back off of the fx on the lead vocal. Very nicely done -

Ok, I'm going to rush in... Sounds true to the genre, vox feel a little wet, but then again? That's how they recorded back then :-) The performance and mix sound spot on to me, no crits.

Hi Bub , fun piece, great guitar playing. Imho a bit to much reverb on the vocals compared to the backing tracks. Good job. Greetings, Rik

Oh man! I am a HUGE Ricky Nelso fan. This is good cover arrangment, good vocal imprssion too. Not just like Ricky but the right inflections. Way cool, I dig this a bunch. Glad to know I'm not the only RN fan. Cool guitar break too. Great mix on the Reverb, very authentic. Love it!! Daryl

Hey, Bub, Great job on this! Nice playing, great vox, and you've got a good, clean and wide, vintage sounding mix. Really nice work, have a good one! Bob

looks like your hit the mark that you were aiming for.....the soaking wet vox is even a bit much for this style... nice guitar work!

This sounds great to me Bub!!! I like the mix as is, it sounds how the music during that time should sound, only with quality recording. Which IMO makes it even harder to sound true to the songs time because every little tiny movement on the strings etc... you can hear if you aren't careful. Great work here Bub no doubt about it!!! I like the Reverb where it's at for this cover tune, it's true to the time IMO. I enjoyed listening to this, excellent!!!!!! Bobby

Hey Bub- Sounds great to me. Real nice job on this cover. I'd agree with the other comments on the vocal which sounds terrific, but maybe a tad too wet. Do you guys take requests? My personal favorite was 'Hello Mary Lou'... would love to hear you guys doing that.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. :) The vocals are actually 3 lead parts mixed together to give the vocals a fuller sound. I may need to back some of them off a bit and decrease the reverb a little too. As for Hello Mary Lou, we've been toying with the idea. We'll probably end up doing it eventually. :)

Yup, back up a little on the verb, I did notice the doubling fx, I thought it was efxs so didn't like the sound of vocals. Doubling vocals was a not well received trick from the 70's. I'd shy away if I was you. Love the guitar part, but I'm not in love with the bass line, Sounds like a left hand busy keyboard thingy. I'd use a Root/ 5 pattern ( acoustic bass?) . And to make it vintage put reverb on everything ! they had no choice back then, Everything went to the "room" or "plate" and back. Try that in the mix down. Pick one reverb setting and run the whole mix through it.
