For Your Country - A little ballad for the men and women who protect us.

This just kind of evolved from watching a few shows about how those coming home get treated sometimes and a few other things. My 13 year old granddaugther Lizzie started taking violin lessons at school and my 8 year old grandson Adam started taking recorder and learned 3 notes so I fit her into the choruses and him into the bridge with the 3 notes he learned. We all got a kick out of it.
With friend Sara Espinosa doing the main vocals and brother Rick on bass and backing vocals.
 
I'm open to suggestions. This is the first full mix so it will probably need a little tweaking here and there.

Thanks to all for the comments. I'm going to make a little video out of it as soon as I am comfortable with the mix.

The same link has an updated version. I tried to give the vocals and acoustic guitar a little more space, smooth a few things out a little and fix what I felt were a couple of panning and eq issues.

As everyone knows one little tweak is like pulling the bottom box off a shelf and all the others cave in. Plus morning ears versus later in the day and so many other variables. It's good thing I keep versions as I go or it would be shot.

Not all the time, but sometimes it just goes into not responding mode. I don't seem to be having this issue on any toher site, but it's possible it's something on my end. I made the mistake of upping my browser to IE9 and should have left well enough alone. Thx
 

Really like this, melodic and sung well. The intro really captivated me and held my attention, although I was a small bit dissapointed when the guitar came in (more so the strum), cos it turned into a different more country type genre.

I have the same problem with this forum ever since my IE9 upgrade... it sucks all the fun out of it for me...

This is a good song and it is very well done.  I like it and the performance.

Very cool song with a great message and excellent performances by everyone involved!

I'm on my second listen.  Excellent songwriting, all of the instruments sound very good, and the vocals and harmonies are absolutely stellar.  I love the acoustic guitar solo around the three minute mark, and you have a clean and wide, pro sounding mix.  It's also really great that you got your grandkids involved in a nice family music project.

Funny thing is playing it in the car I thought it had a pube too much bass so last night I tweaked the bass down a smidgen. Perhaps that was a bad move :). I listened to it today and the car and would agree the bass went a little below where it needs to be.

I really need to either get a drummer or more proficient. Sometimes I listen to the drum track and like and other times it is a little much. So I'm in agreements on both calls.

Thanks again and I think you were right about the bass. I spent some time with it today and made a few adjustments and where it is at now I am very happy with. I also did some work on the drum track to smooth out the rimshot and a few of the biting parts and think it really came together. But then again, perhaps I am tainted.

Very kind, thank you, and thank you for your service!!!. My dad was in the Navy and my Wife's father in the Army (WWII) and a decorated Vet including a Purple Heart. We take a lot for granted today.
