I heard that Bill Cosby is working on a new series of commercials for the Bunn-o Pudding Pops.  A PETA representative, Peter Cottontail, was scheduled to speak out against this ad campaign, but failed to show up for a press conference following a tour of the Bunn-o plant.

I'm glad the fudge makes you all feel better about yourselves.

Suicide (or any sudden, senseless death) is always hardest on the survivors - especially if it happens to someone near and dear.  How you react to the event is what's most important.  You can take it poorly or realize that you're still the one alive and need to try and enjoy life to the fullest.  Sometimes there IS no real answer to the "Why???" we all want to ask.  I've tried both approaches (with some really negative results coming out of the first option) so I now choose to take the second path.  Stress can be very harmful to your health, so whether you feel you could have prevented someone's early departure or not doesn't mean you have to stop living as well.

Just as much as stress is detrimental to you, laughing and positive thoughts can cure many ills.  In this case, fudge was merely a symbol of something to cheer people up (at least for most).

In other words, after something happens, you can't change the event, you can only decide how you react to the event.  This is the basic tenet of Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and applies to all areas of human behavior (plus you can learn how to stop reacting the same way everytime people "push your buttons").

All of that said, my goal wasn't necessarily to make people feel better about themselves (though I'm not sure what's wrong with that), but merely to cheer those up who are getting unduly depressed by some of the subject matter around here lately.

Have you ever contemplated suicide Craig?

Contemplated it?  Definitely.  "Why" is a long story, but it never was a taboo topic for my mental roamings (nothing is).  Contemplated it seriously?  Not really.  The closest was during the one bad acid trip I ever had many years ago.  It was about eight hours, that felt like months, where I definitely went down the wrong rabbit hole.  Words can't describe how emotionally bad things felt to me at that time.  Ironically, the suicidal thoughts were drowned out by sarcastic mental replies of "You wouldn't even succeed at that!"  The thought of trying and failing was even worse than the notion of succeeding but, as often happens when you are on mind-altering substances, one little thing made all the difference:  I found a small glass coffee mug that featured Garfield and Odie and the saying "USE YOUR FRIENDS WISELY!" which seemed overly profound at the time, but made me realize that I did have friends and that made me smile.  As soon as I did my entire mood changed and I, eventually, came out of it with some really good, thoughtful insights into how I think and how I was living my life up til then.  It ended up being a very positive experience (even though it was HORRIBLE when I was going through the process and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone).  However, it definitely altered how I thought about things.  The details are almost as vivid now as they were then...

Hmm...  Just found an image of the little cup (which I still have):
