For those who performed a minimum upgrade to Platinum from X3
I want to underscore with Everett there have been fixes to some of the plug-ins in the Engineering and Boutique FX Suites. I believe it was common for upgraders from X3 Producer to skip installing these packages because they did not change. Since they are not installed C3 has no way to indicate these packages have been upgraded. Install these packages to get the bug fixes.

Thanks scook, this is indeed important to point out. I think this is what fixes the elusive "plug-ins pop and kill audio sometimes" bug.

Do you know what's been updated?
I guess we can do a manual install of just some plugins - rather than use Command Center. (?)

Several plug-ins in the Engineering and Boutique FX Suites have bug fixes. Each suite has an installer. You can download the installers directly from your account and run them by hand if you wish.

Thank You scook! I did not re-install these when I upgraded from X3 to sPlat, in fact, I hid them in C3. It sounds like I can DL them from my account and install. Thanks again as I would have never known I had to do that.

These plugins all installed to "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins" and there is no option to change that. This is what we're trying to get away from. I just let the two installers do their thing - and copied everything to the right place. sigh

If however, people don't use CCC for updates then just make sure to read the monthly eZine page 4 (this month) which specifically states that there are updates for a couple of the plugin groups. The eZine is an invaluable resource to help keep track of what has been released and when. Go here for all the latest and continuing list of updates. Note that there are links to the various release ezines as you progress to the bottom of the page. http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Whats-NewEverett PDF here http://static.cakewalk.co...AR_Everett_Release.pdf

Except for Boost11 (which is installed by the main Sonar installer), all other plugins are installed to the folders you set in the options for CCC (click on the cog button for the options).
The following VST DLLs have file dates from May 2015, so those should have been updated: Channel Tools, Percussion Strip, Vocal Strip, Tube Leveler, Transient Shaper.
Even for packages you have not installed by CCC, you can see the version number in CCC to find out if there was an update or not. But you must know the initial version numbers (which were 1.0.0.7 for all Cakewalk VST packages).

All the installers contain the version number in their respective file names. I archive all the files and when I view them it's easy to see what's the most recent etc. in conjunction with the monthly eZine.

My gripe is that the fx suites just installed to a default path when installed *manually*! Perversely, I'd have been better installing them with CCC, as that is set for the correct VST path.
We still need some type of good old fashioned "verbose", install method - where we can pick which vsts to install and where to put them. That way, if you have paid for the full Breverb or THD or Truepianos - they won't be overwritten!
Idiot proof is fine, but we need a way to turn it off.

What's a pre-CCC installer? Do you mean X3, or installing the current versions without the use of CCC.

You do know that you can use the manual installer that gives you all the options as per previous installers. You just don't get the pretty CCC lights to go green. With file names and the eZine each month you'd be hard pressed missing anything. Just thought I'd mention it but I figure you would know.

I don't know how to program, but I was a beta tester for some software, and the biggest thing before a release was trying to get the install correct for so many different versions of Windows. What fixed something in one version, broke it for another. It was just round and round..... Believe this, it ain't easy!! Compromises have to be made.

It's always a mighty pain to get installers right what with customers demanding that you not dump files in random locations and all.

Instruments and FX that I previously installed with X3, X2, etc. My command center is mostly red since I also already had AD2 and Melodyne Editor installed and don't need loop content. I downloaded the Boutique FX Suite from my account and ran it but it didn't prompt me for location.

Because a few of the plugins have been updated the installer has been updated too so it reflects the new paradigm. Older installers should still work the old way. With the CCC update that's coming you will have to run the installers and select specific locations.
I've gotten around it by creating links between the default installation locations and where I want them to be. I. An just run CCC and everything ends up where I want it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but can't you just install via the CCC after specifying the plug-in path in the System menu?

Yeah - but I wanted to tell it *where* to install the plugins. I thought that was the whole point of installing manually. I also thought maybe you could pick which FX from the suite - that you want to install - but no, you get no choices. so there is no difference between using CCC and installing manually - except CCC actually lets you choose the install path. What if you don't want to install one of the plugins from the suite? (like a "full" copy rather than the "Cakewalk" version)

A couple of lines of text in notepad, copy and paste into cmd line. Done. I don't have to worry about the installers and don't have my C drive cluttered with stuff I don't want there. Nice and clean.
