Forever Friends (The Backpacker Song) - Ears Please!

Hi Guys,

A song I had written a while back while in Singapore with a few guys, has been hanging for a while now and I have been meaning to put a nice video together for this too.

If any of you have every backpacked you will know that the first 3 questions you/they will ask is (1) Whats your name? (2) Where you from? (3) Where are you going next?
You get really tired of hearing it!! so the song actually is a bit of pisstake, at myself in a way too.

Anyway, I need ears on this. You like it, you don't? Hows the arrangement, instrument and mix choices?

https://soundcloud.com/ci...ackpacker-song/s-x390k

Thanks,

Cian

    I liked it.

I thought it might be nice to slowly add in more and more voices, or to have different singers alternate through the song. The vocal parts sounded like the same person (or not very many people) doing all the parts.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Well written song Cian, nicely presented. The chorus works really well, it really lifts there. Don't like the synth brass much, it sounds a little jarring to me against the fairly simple guitar/voice arrangement.

What a great song!  Loved it all.  The song, arrangement, mix.  Very well done and sung!
I think it could use more bottom.  Seems shy around 60hz to 80hrz. I am sure the frequencies are there just needs a tad more punch in the low end.
    I really love this work.

    Thanks for feedback guys.

gswitz - Thats a very good point, something I wouldnt have spotted being so close. The backing vocals could do with other textures your right, although I am happy for my lead vocal to be sing most of the song.

James - I understand your synth brass comment, I dont know, but I like it for some reason so it will stay unless someone drastically objects to that.

    kakku, tony, thank men.

rimshot, considering Im mixing on PC speakers, no wonder it lacks there. I also have a habit of just hi passing a lot of stuff when there is probably no need.

This is quite nice. I think the lead vocal is a bit to loud but other than that, the mix is great!

    Excellent!

Guitarpima, maybe a smidgen too loud yea, particularly on verse 1, but rather that way that other way around.

thepogue & wookie, thanks for listening guys.

    Cian,

Great song.   The only issue I hear is that the vox are a little loud during the verses in comparison to the backing instrumentation.   I would like to hear a little more bass too, on the top and the bottom.   Great post.

Good tune. You always have quality stuff. How you can go from rapping in NYC to backpacking in Singapore, says a lot about your talents as a song writer.

I sometimes feel guilty for not finding my own sound or genre, but right now I just like to float. Why not i I suppose.
