Forget about bacon...
Olives. I'm addicted to olives. I eat tons of them every week (well, maybe not to the point of exceeding the suggested daily sodium intake...) Nothing beats sitting down with a couple of good books, some crackers or matzos and olives. Occasionally, maybe some cheese too. Old cheddar. Or so I thought. Tonight I discovered olive medley hummus. Oh my... I even dipped olives in olive medley hummus! I think I finally understood what it is that people feel when they eat bacon or chocolate.

Nice. Loves me some hummus too. Haven't had matzos for a long time. My local supermarket does an antipasti selection tray of olives, cubed cheese and sundried tomatoes, that's an occasional Saturday night treat with a nice Pinot Noir.

Add a few home-pickled shallots into that mix and I'd be in heaven

It's such a weird habit I have developed, of putting things into context. If I watch a documentary about Rome, I need grapes and olives and wine. If I'm studying Jewish scriptures, I need matzos and olives, and jewish music. If I watch the Godfather, I need pastas. WWII - Sauerkraut...
And so on... But olives are always there. This is why I cannot say that I've read Ozzy's biography - it would most certainly incriminate me, and peta would declare me public enemy no 1... :P

Hi, I do use olive oil instead of anything else, but in general, olives are good, but I have not indulged in some time. Time to visit Safeway and get some!

5 year old cheddar, an assortment of crackers, kalamata olives. Add good lighting and some nice music or a movie. I call it Saturday night. Oh ya, the hockey game. Can't forget about the hockey game.
