Forgive me if this has already been discussed...

...but ProChannel would be totally unbelievably awesome if we could add any VST as a permanent module. For instance, I just bought Slate Digital's VCC (which I absolutely love by the way - buy it if you don't have it already) and it would make life so much better if it was automatically inserted whenever a new track/bus was created.

As it is, I never actually use ProChannel (apart from when I want parallel compression - the wet/dry knob should be a standard feaure on all plugins - well done CW!) because I have other compressors and EQs that I like more. But the idea of it is fantastic - I wouldn't even glance at other DAWs if we could add any VST as a permanent module to ProChannel.

As I said in the title, sorry if this has been brought up before - it probably has, because it seems like an obviously desirable feature to me.

P.S. Is there any way of posting on these forums from an iPhone? I know it's a Safari issue, just wondering if there is a way around it?

I'll have three fingers of Glenlivet, with a little bit of pepper... and some cheese.

What's wrong with the fx bin.

The ProChannel has a uniform GUI style that 3rd party VSTs can not fit into. (Perhaps softube violated it a little with their massive knob...)

p.s. One cool thing about PC EQ is that Q can be tweaked on the graph using the mouse with the alt key.

He didn't even say something was wrong with the bin?

The uniform GUI style isn't much of an obstacle, I believe. Cakewalk already provide  a possible solution in their new FX chains where the user can fit any vst FX plugin into an alternative GUI. I don't see why a similar technique couldn't let users fit VST plugins into PC's GUI as well. Even if it would  probably allow only a limited amount of controls it would still be very useful, IMO.

Maybe mini fx chains could be a good idea....

I thought jamescollins wanted to insert VCC into PC (!) Other users have mooted the idea of fx bin module in PC. Hells Bells. I think Cakewalk/3rd parties should keep releasiing additional PC modules- it might make the VST insertion demand moot... But like I said- what's wrong with fx bin?

Nothing wrong with the FX bin at all. But like I said, the idea of ProChannel is great, to have a selection of workhorse plugins already there, ready to go. I was just saying it would be great if we could choose which plugins were there. One less thing to do! As in my example with the VCC, instead of right clicking, insert VST, then finding the plugin you want, imagine if every track and bus already had it there, ready to go. That's a feature I would definitely pay for.

I agree with you James. I can re assure you you are not the only one having this thoughts . I don't think we should need to pay extra for it though. Any EQ, Dymanic VST plugin should just work "right in the box" and be able to be attached to the PRO CHANNEL-GUI and use its own VST-GUI.  That would be a great feature wouldn't it not.

If you feel strongly about it maybe others do too so you could make a feature request. Good luck.

Yep, that's how I understand jamescollins as well. I think it's a good idea and as said I think it's technically possible. 3rd party development is nice and dandy, but i don't believe it would make that demand moot until everybodies favorite plug was released as PC module - IOW: never. The only downside I see in letting the users do it themselves is (maybe) decreased income for the companies.

Guess you can just setup a track template with any VST plugin combination or fx chain already setup and just insert a new track already setup that way. Surely that's just as quick.

What I don't iunderstand is why we in effect (Pardon the pun) need two fx bins, one in the Channel Strip and now one in ProChannel. But there I go again not understanding.

And yes I have Expanded installed and the PC4K addin module too.

That's exactly what I do, Mike. But I, like James, would love to just have things visible in a module type atmosphere so I don't have to double click stuff in the bin to access it. It's nice to open that pro channel and just work and seeing something....but because I'm not really a fan of it, I do it the way you said. It sure would be nice to put what *I* want in place of it though.
