"Forthcoming upgrade"

Well there comes a time when people have to change stuff and get modern....

At the moment I started an upgrade transition with replacing my CPU chassis for a more up-to-date thing. Next will be my graphics card which I opted for a Fanless GPU solution which will still do what I need to do.

I placed a * beside each item I already have.

Eventually my goal is to have a setup like this.

Antec P100 White Chassis *
Intel Core i7 7th Generation
Nofan IcePipe Fanless CPU Cooler
16/32GB DDR4 SDRAM
256GB SSD drive (for os and programs)
256GB SSD drive (for current sample libraries)*
1024GB SSD drive (for larger sample libraries)
Universal Audio external device (Thunderbolt)
Palit GTX 1050Ti Maxwell GPU [Heatsink/No Fan] 4GB

I plan to use my current drives as backup storage or reuse one of them in an alternative system. My aim is silent as possible , fast and functional with very little bottlenecks as possible eventually. Leaving only one exhaust fan at 120mm and a PSU fan which gets turned on by the PSU itself when required.

It would be nice and the power savings would show over time.

Airflow is a consideration so maybe 1 exhaust can using pwm sensors.

    I have computer stuff.

What disk are you going to record to?  I would recommend using a 7200 RPM standard HD (as opposed to an SSD).

That's a good question. Bear in mind there are different forms of SSD technology now.

I suppose it will be a case of SSD boot, sample drives as SSD and a large capacity drive. Small sectors don't need to be fast writes anyway. Looking at the Seagate SSHD range which uses a Hybrid method of storing data. As long as the drive is quiet as possible as this is indeed the aim.
