There used to be an elaborate TOC that was a sticky in the main forum which was eventually amended to be a simpler to understand doc without a bunch of legalise.

Words that can be construed as racially inappropriate, swearing or slagging off on anyone and especially the Cakewalk staff are forbidden. It is asked of all of us to keep things civil and to stay OT (on topic) as concerns the original post in a thread. Another thing that happens is that even if the letters that form an unacceptable word occur within a word then that word would be unacceptable.
Example, if I was to talk about the jelly like substance that some preserved meats are covered in “aspic”, you might find that AKISMET the artificial intelligence behind the forum software, that protects us from such things and spam will spring into action and cross out the unacceptable parts of the word. Hope that’s clear.

Moderators were called Forum Hosts. At the moment they include, Karyn, Scook, Bitflipper, Wookie, John and Bob Bone and some others but I don’t see them stick their heads up often. They can be identified by the addition of the term Forum Host which is attached to their Avatar and name. Forum hosts are empowered/ to make sure that the forum remains a family friendly environment. They can report you to admin for further discipline if they think it’s required, they can delete a thread or post or lock a thread because the majority of threads do not comply with continued requests to keep it civil and remain on topic. Discussion on religion and politics are not acceptable.

This is all off the top of my head after having been a regular contributor here for about 15 years. I haven’t found it difficult to never get an official dressing down but have from time to time been pulled up by another user because I might have been a little rough on someone in a thread. It’s at that time you need to decide whether to keep going or accept the counsel and move on. Many don’t like counsel and it become more about who are you to do such a thing than the issue that caused you to speak up. Keep a balance it’s only software forum after all even though it can really grab hold of your emotions.

I am also a Moderator but only in the Software forum so that I can access the tools I need to let me organise the Sonar Resources and Utilities thread along with another user called Elffin.

There’s probably a bit more but if you keep it cool you’ll be fine. From what I’ve seen of your posts I think you get it, though being an Aussie (me too) our sense of humour isn’t always understood so where I might have a dig at you the septic’s might not take too kindly to it. Wait till I get asked what “Septics” are.

Hope that helps. Some of the different forums still have a sticky thread that explains what kinds of topics are appropriate for that forum.

I wouldn't concern yourself with it really as this forum will be history in the near future.
