MIDIMINDS Electric Falcon™ So does this mean that when someone doesn't agree with my "POSTED ANSWER" or "OPINION" that if I don't agree with them and call them "WRONG" that I am being a "CYBER BULLY"??? EF Not at all! Often the best ideas are spawned from alternate perspectives and healthy debate. It's when you find a (usually) small, vocal lot who decide to turn the subject into something toxic or belittle the other posters that you're entering into the realm of cyber bullying. As a rule, when an INDIVIDUAL chooses to 'act out' in a forum environment, he/she is labeled a troll and their posts/opinions are filtered. But it is often the case around here that a few folks, clinging to some misguided, elitist mindset, simply shout down the OP (or other posters) with venomous, unhelpful commentary. It is a shame, really. I know that I've avoided certain threads in an effort to distance myself from the schoolyard antics of the folks in question. I wonder how many others have done the same. (And how much more productive the forums would be if that wasn't the case.) Yawn, Uh, your talking in the "FIRST PERSON AGAIN" and disregarding others here. YOU BULLY! Remember, this is coffeehouse, and the gloves are never on! It's a place to let your hair down for the ladies and a place for us dude's to realize : "Hey, that chick had hair". Don't take too much of anything I say in this thread or the other we've been chatting about as being too serious. This should be called the "LESS HAVE FUN FORUM" because I can't handle Coffee. EF

MidiMinds, some times people just go off in forums. I'm no "master of the art" but sometimes the posts that are responded to with perceived bullying are just so out of line, stupid, or intent on inciting a fight that an a** kicking is in order. I know I've mixed it up with some members numerous times and it's pretty much a pointless way to go 'cause nothing gets acheived. Please be aware also that there are Trolls and hackers here that impersonate other users and that some posters are here to find consulting work and get paid for their solutions. It's all in good fun and it's just a forum.

Hey Craig - I hear ya, loud and clear. That's why I try to keep banter like this confined to a "Coffee House" type of environment. BTW - Thanks for many helpful and insightful posts. Switching platforms can be arduous. But a 'tip of the hat' to folks like you, brundlefly, ModBod, mike_mccue and many others who seem genuinely interested in being a helpful, knowledgeable resource to the forum.

i have to be on the top ten most wanted list on this forum... i don't mean to hijack other's threads... i just can't stop myself. i would never do that face to face with some one... so why do i keep getting sucked in... i don't know. all i can do is apologize at the end of it. but i'm working on it. to be truthfull this is the first forum or chat room or any other kind of chat that I've been a part of so sometimes i forget that there are actual human beings on the other side of the computer. my new years resolution this year is to not hijack threads... it's just so easy though... lol

Lot's more bullies here than there used to be... Between the million-post boys and the system builders with an attitude, it's become a rather annoying place. I think we should all race to 20,000 posts and show what "senior" means... Or not. Mention a Mac and watch them freak. It's sort of funny. It's the politics that's particularly annoying: the anti-global-warming, pro-USSA folks... sick of them entirely. Grow up, please. In the end, this is nothing compared to the Ableton forum. Tame, by comparison. - zevo

Hi, There is way too much trolling all around ... and in the end, you have to get a bit more familiar with the folks that post regularly, and you will know right away if the information is worth checking/chasing or not. I like the idea developing a thick skin ... but it's not any different than spyware or virus' ... the minute you get tough, they get tougher ... and sometimes it is like thinking that those folks are stupid ... and we know darn well they aren't! The best way, of course ... is to be psychic! Then you can tell that person where to stuff it, and more than likely everyone will agree with you and help throw more dirt!
As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

I like this quote by goldtop, several posts up: "During my very short stay in Nashville, I learned an important rule. Be nice to all the new guys, some will be stars next year." But as I thought about it this afternoon, I thought, 'why can't we just be nice to all the new guys...whether they become stars or not?'

I've been on this forum for quite a long time. I lurk WAY more than I log in. I could probably count instances of bullying or realistic offensive behaviour on my fingers. There are a few users that are brash and don't take a lot of care in the way they say what they say. But I don't think they're bullying, just blunt. And quite often correct to boot. And it's far too easy to misread typeface - what we actually say is only 7% of human communication (according to my last uni course). These forums block out the other 93% that could explain so much clearer. And like Moshkiae inferred - if you're creating music/art that anyone will hear and/or critique, you'd better have a thick skin. There have been a couple of users over the years that I've blocked or "forum-confronted". But only a couple, and that's way less than in the real world...

MIDIMINDS, if I upset you in anyway I apologize. I agree with most everything you said, but the thing is, I know most people will. That's one reason I have been being so ANTI-POST about your post. It's important to hear the opposite of the subject whether it's nice/good/bad or whatever. What a boring forum this would make if everybody agreed on every post. I like the negativity myself. Either way, this is a hot subject, sorry if I upset you. LOL, you kept your cool and put ANTI-EF in his place! It's that small little corner of the world where you are not allowed to speak for a short while and think about what you just said or done. YOU BULLY! EF
