    Where the hell were the Germans?

    For once they just didn't show up, apart from a brief period midway through the first half.

    I have to say, well done Italy, and look out Spain! The Spanish are going to have to REALLY up their game in they want to create history

    The ref didn't add on any extra time for the PK (usually a minute is reasonable).  I mention this because Germany was on the move and the goalie was in position to take a pass close to the box.  Unfortunately, the ref blew his whistle just as the kick was on its way but, could you imagine?  In the last minute of stoppage time if the goalie had a chance to kick a tying goal???  That would have been something!
