Four vocal takes - turn them in to take lanes?

I've got four vocal takes on four separate tracks. I'd like to have another go at Sonar's comping facility - I've had two tries before and gave up as my old 'cut and paste' to a fresh track method was quicker. I feel sure if I learn to comp properly it will be quicker once I get used to it.  Can I start with these four tracks or is it too late to change them into take lane format?

I'm pretty sure you can simply create four lanes on a track and drag them on there. Using the smart comping tool you can click on one to set it as your "base take" and then comp away.

I have done that as well - it works!
