Free Audio Converter

I found a neat little audio converter called "Switch". Really quick and easy to use. It may be old news, but I don't remember seeing any posts about it. You can find it @

    Beagster you gotta try Goldwave (free) it has so many great toys that Audacity does not.

    I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

    Goldwave is nice Robomusic. It has a free download...but you have to make sure you have the Lame MP3 codecs downloaded and installed to support MP3 export.

    Chetman....Switch is a sweet program....but is only a temporary trial software. I was using it for some quick and simple converting, then out of the blue, it stopped allowing me to do anything until I bought the registered version of the software. Don't remember the price...but it didn't last long. I would agree with Robomusic....I do like Goldwave.

    Just my two cents....

    I've heard you mention Goldwave several times before, but I never have taken the plunge to go get it. I'll have to put that on my "to do" list!

    71man,
    I hear you, but the website says the following;

    "We make Switch audio file converter free in the hope you will like it so much you will decide to upgrade to Switch Plus which supports additional encode-to formats".

    The freebie does what I need done. Time will tell if it quits working for me as well. Thanks for the heads up though. I will probably try goldwave too though. Things are terribly slow at work right now and I have some time on my hands for playing around with this stuff.

    I use Switch too. I tried another shareware converter but it put pops and clicks into the mp3 file that it created from the RIFF Wav. When I went back to Switch, no pops or clicks. I'll use it with MC 3 until it expires or quits and then I'll buy it if necessary.

    You can buy an encoder from Cakewalk that works with MC3. (There was supposed to be a 30 day trial with the boxed version, but I never found it). Then you can just export the audio as an MP3. I like Switch because I can pull files from anywhere PC and convert them in a snap.

    For converting quickly there is nothing like DBPowerAmp, it is fast as can be.

    Beag the deal with Goldwave over Audacity is that is has almost as many features and tools as Sound forge for well a fraction of the price (Free) Open source you can pay $55 and lose the nag screen.

    I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

    I downloaded it and it seems they have changed their philosophy. I get something like 2000 uses then it stops working. I forget exactly what it said, but basically it is no longer free, but a trial time period before you have to pay for it.

    Yeah that is how it works, but i have had it for like two years and still only used it 185 times i still have 1815 uses left before i have to pay, but i might just pay anyway and promote the product since it is only $55 and sound forge is like $250 or more.

    Yeah its me again. Just wanted to update folks about "Switch" audio converter. After 30 days I did get a box telling me that the "free trial" had expired. I closed the box and kept using the software. Haven't seen the little box again. The software still works fine.
