Free Audio Production Course for a limited time
The bad news is it requires you be on facebook and "like" Lynda.com but there is no other catch. The full course is free until July 19th. I posted this here because I have seen a few questions on this forum that are addressed in this course. Enjoy: https://www.facebook.com/...325181790894701?ref=ts

Thanks for posting that. Tape Op is equally geeky and useful. I like that Lynda.com used someone that many of us actually read and not just a bedroom musician who speaks the lingo. No disrespect to bedroom musicians intended.

rmorter..did you take the link via lynda.com or did you go the facebook route? i assure you it is 100% free and asks for no credit card number. I'm not associated with Tape Op or Lynda.com. I just stumbled upon it and thought it would be cool to share a nice freebie. They tend to offer a course or two from various software types each month for people who like them on FB.

I used to have a Lynda.com subscription and watched a couple of the mixing courses. The one by Brian Lee White is excellent. He does Pro Tools Mixing And Mastering (which translates well to other DAW's) and also separate courses on EQ, filters and compression. They really are second to none, especially if you're a beginner, but I also think you'd learn something from them if you were more experienced too. I have happy memories of sitting watching these for most of the evening.

These are actually great videos and very interesting for me even though I do everything ITB. I just watched the ones on adding distortion to bass and recording piano and they were a joy to watch.

Was going to watch it but it was for PT, still was going to watch it until I saw it was a free trial. I would forget and end up paying for something I don't want but thanks for the link anyway! J

jbow and anyone else who thinks they have to pay for anything or sign up for a free trial..NO NO NO. Lynda.com does offer that option, but if you simply like them on facebook you don't have to sign up for anything. it is a link on their facebook page to watch the whole thing with no . catch. Very little of it is PT specific. It just happens to be that he is working in PT.

Oh and if you have problems with "liking" someone on Facebook, then you can always watch the course and then unlike them afterwards. Also, it does make you post a status update saying "I am watching this course" but again, you can go straight in and delete this from your wall. I'm having trouble understanding why anyone would object to what you have to do to watch these videos for free. They are top notch!

I tried it again - but the video didn't play. Before I'd clicked on the "Start Free Trial" button and that led to the credit card request. This time I ended up going into preferences and selecting Media Player. Then I chose the video icon from the little links in the lower left margin of the page. That caused the video to open in a new tab and I got to start watching for free, with no credit card entry required.

Thanks for the link. I "liked" them on Facebook then the series of videos appeared for me. It was mostly studio techniques and had almost nothing to do with any DAW software, so that shouldn't scare anyone away. There was some cool tips and tricks in there. I especially liked the one that demonstrated stereo micing singers in a room and overdubbing them in different places within the room, thus creating the same effect as a choir. Really cool stuff.

Okay, call me slow. I just figured out that you click on the links such as "1. Signal Path, Gain Stages, and Phase Relationships" on the right side of the page to view the videos. Doh!
