Free Expansion Packs - But what did we get? (SOLVED)
My initial problem was that both Rapture and Cakewalk Sound Center were not showing the new sounds. After downloading the free packs they installed, but I couldn't see anything new. RAPTURE SOLVED: Pressed F5 in Rapture to update the available sounds. The new pack appeared in the list. CAKEWALK SOUND CENTER SOLVED: It appears this installed the Programs (new sounds) in the wrong location. I just moved them to the location of all the other CSC programs, and I was then able to see them and use them.

Thanks for the F5 hint - never would have figured that out. As to CSC, yes, they turned up in my VSTplugins folder for some reason. About to move them to the usual location (All Users\Application Data etc). It doesn't look like the installer has an option to choose the install folder. AFAICS, I have to move all the files in the Programs, Programs/Images and Programs/Patterns folders. Cheers, Peter.

PeterMc: Looks like you faced the same problems I did. The CSC files landed in VSTplugins folder, and I had to move them. Your solution is exactly what I did. Once I got them all in the right location, I could search for the sounds, and they were all coming up. No refresh needed in CSC. (although I loaded CSC after I moved the files)

I'm not sure what's going on with my install of these things - In Rapture, are the new items "Expansion Pack Teaser 1 and 2"--? Sound Center - the original installation placed all of its parts, samples et al in my VST folder-- Not sure where these new items went, if they were added or not? RB

Rapture etc REALLY need to have an ability to determine where the files go, and change directories. I don't want any data on my C drive, and yet Cakewalk keeps putting it there.

If you see those, then your files installed properly.

I can see the new files in the Rapture LE folder in Windows Explorer, in the same place as Expansion Pack 1 Teasers etc, but these do not show up in the Rapture LE browser. Pressing F5 doesn't do anything. Is there another way to update the Rapture browser?

My Raptue LE were in the Program files(x86) location but not the Program files. I just moved them. I'm not sure about the CSC yet. I have not used it yet though. Maybe I would if I can figure them out.

so all of you guys that are getting these expansion packs for free, did you have X1 prior to the promotion? my concern is that once I upgrade to X1 I won't get the expansion packs for free since most likely I will be registering after the 28th which seems really unfair since this promotion suppose to be aimed at current up graders and not ones who upgraded back in December. I think whoever is in charge of the marketing has made things very unfair to those who upgrade during the promotion but won't be getting their FREE sound packs since some users aren't able to register on or before the 28th.

I think whoever is in charge of the marketing has made things very unfair to those who upgrade during the promotion but won't be getting their FREE sound packs since some users aren't able to register on or before the 28th. Hi, Syntheticpop (I enjoy that user name, btw) Going through your list of questions/comments: --Speaking for myself, yes I had X1 prior to the promotion. --What they're saying is that a customer needs to upgrade by Feb 28th to qualify for the free expansion packs. That's still 2 days away. -- "... this promotion suppose to be aimed at current up graders and not ones who upgraded back in December..." I upgraded in November, on the 2nd to be exact. Then the X1 download was available on Dec. 9th when I got it. This new promotion includes customers from that early on through to the 28th of this month. - I don't understand how that's supposed to be considered "unfair"---? To help deflate the situation a bit, since you seem frustrated that you can't get the upgrade until after the 28th (I assume because of personal financial reasons) - I can tell you as someone who now has the expansion packs - they are not anything to write home about. They consist of a handful of instruments, some of which you'll already have if you have Dim Pro. These packs are primarily just promotional items designed to inspire the purchase of larger packs from Digital Sound Factory - and there's nothing wrong with that, but I feel it's safe to say that the promo claim that these are of "a $50 value" is just promotional hype and hot air. If any of us actually paid $50 for these folders, we would feel ripped off. These are rather typical freebie packages - nothing wrong with them, but nothing especially exciting. So - I recommend you don't lose sleep over not getting them, if it turns out you can't get them. Randy B.

F5 is the traditional way that the new Cake Synths refresh their programs. It pops up all the time in the instrument forum. When Rapture first came out there was much nashing of teeth about the file structrure. René wrote that was the way Vista (and W7, I suppose) needed it to be organized so that updates would find their way to your programs. Didn't like it, don't like it but you can't argue against Bill Gates. There are registration changes to get around it, if you want. Search the instrument forum. @
https://soundcloud.com/a-pleasure-dome http://www.bnoir-film.com/ there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

And once it's registered, it will be March. So I hope that explains my frustration. It seems like Cakewalk is creating so much of it nowadays that it is not nice to the paying customer. I know its not something I want to lose sleep over but it does get to me when they are promoting something and it doesn't allow a group of users to get in on the promotion when they purchase that product during that promotion period. I think the best thing for me is to not upgrade and not allow myself to be lured into a promotion that discriminates against some users who they targeted for the upgrade.

HELP! I installed the Rapture pack, that turned up in the Rapture 32 location. I can use those okay. Even though, I use X1 64. My problem is I have looked every where for the files for the DSF Sound Center Pack. Everyone else seems to have found those in the VST folder. Mine did not turn up there. I have the clav 1 listed on my menu. When I click on iy it says it can't find the multisamples. How can I locate my files and move them so SC will see them? Anyone?

I was wondering the same thing. although, the sounds appeared in the list. When I tried to load the sound it wasn't there. Why wasn't there any instructions to install and operate them correctly. But, I've come to understand if you get something from for a Cakewalk product, it's just not going to work right out of the gate, you are going to have to ask questions in a forum to find would what the magic combination is to get something to operate correctly.
