There's another freebee pitch corrector called Gsnap.

    Anyone tried both?

    Opinions on which is better?

I've used GSnap quite a bit with some success, mostly on vocals but also on other monophonic tracks (e.g. slide guitar). The best settings I've found for my voice are:

    Min Freq: 80Hz
    Max Freq: 1600Hz
    Gate: -50 dB
    Speed: 4
    Threshold: 245 cents
Amount: 50% (but I vary this with automation)
    Attack: 8ms
    Release: 150ms
    Pitch Bend: 0 cents
    Vibrato: 0 cents
    Vib Speed: 0.1 Hz
    Calibrate: 440Hz

Generally what I do is assess the vocal track and note the poor bits then vary the Amount parameter using automation so only the poor bits are 'snapped'.

I'll take a look at this VisualVox one.

Gsnap is more of an auto tune plugin. This is the first one I have seen that acts like vvocal. You can use a pensil tool to draw a whole new note. You can even make the vocals longer or shorter by stretching them back and forth. The only drawbacks are that it will only move the vocals up and down to the next note and you cant move them up and down a tad, and once you close your project, you have to play the project back all the way through to do further editing once you open it again. Thats not that big of a deal. It has it's own play and stop buttons at the bottom of the plugin so that you can hear whats going on in the right hand view. Takes a bit of getting used to. Vvocal is obviously still better, but this is a lot closer than Gsnap.

I just downloaded the VisualVox and I'm afraid to say I'm already stuck on the first instruction in the manual. Exactly how do I load it as an insert effect? I right-clicked on fx and saw nothing. I'm using Music Creator 3. Thanks for any help!

    Mamabear,
You add it as an effect into the effects box.
If you didn't see it as a possible effect, then you need to run "Scan VST Plugins"
    under Tools->Cakewalk Plug-in Manager
If you don't see it after your scan, then you need to make sure it's copied
to the correct VSTPlugins folder under Cakewalk on your hard drive.
