Free Reference for Antique Recording Restoration

This one's not for everyone, but if you have curiosity about how records were made from the very beginning of the technology in the 1800's through the first digital recordings, this is a fascinating (if technical) read.

This document was originally written for the British Library Sound Archive, as a how-to and background tutorial for people archiving historical recordings. The author, one Peter Copeland, has stuffed an encyclopedic amount of information into a 2.3MB pdf that can be freely downloaded.

Fellow hard-core propeller-heads, you can download it here.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
