Free Upgrade Serial Number Problem

A few days ago I upgraded from HS6 to X1 Essential.  Everything went well and Essential works great.  Today I got an email from Cakewalk offering a free upgrade to X1 Studio.  Cakewalk's website said " Please use the Amplitube X-Gear serial number from your original SONAR X1 Essential purchase. A duplicate serial will not be sent."
 
I downloaded X1 Studio, but when I enter the Amplitube serial number in the set-up wizard, I get, "Invaid Serial Number".  I tried my X1 Essential serial number and got the same message.  BTW - I got the Amplitube serial number  on my Essential disc, and once I registered, Amplitube sent me an email with the same number.
 
Cakewalk did not send a new serial number for the free download.

    Use "Run As Administrator" when opening the program. That should fix it.

    Just tried running as Administrator (a couple of times).  Same message "Invalid Serial Number".  I use the Amplitude serial - right?

    Not sure. Can you run Amplitude as a standalone program? Meaning open Amplitude As Administrator WITHOUT opening Sonar then try it. Guitar Rig does it that way. If that doesn't work maybe try using Run As administrator to open Sonar and do your update. If that doesn't work I have no other advice than to say give the Cakewalk general support line a call to see what's up. It's the 888 number listed in the stickied thread labeled "How to contact Cakewalk directly". Good luck.

    Amplitude opens alone as administrator (and not as administrator).  I opened the X1 studio as the administrator.  I used copy and paste to transfer the serial number from Amplitude's email to the X1 studio set-up wizard.  I re-downloaded the X1 Studio software.  I tried X1 Essential's password.  I tried Amplitude's autorization code.  I tried calling Cakewalks help number (they are closed).  I tried the wizard with Amplitude open as administrator.

    Damn. Sorry that didn't work. I forgot it was the weekend too so the Cake support line won't be open until monday. Hopefully someone smarter than I will come along to help. Cheers.

    you should read those emails a few more times and make sure exatly what its saying,it doesnt sound right that the amplitude x gear serial would work for sonar x1 studio.
    they are two different products with 2 serial numbers that are nothing like each other.

    You know, you are right, I bet the message means that I use the same Amplitude serial number to launch Amplitude in X1 Studio.  Since my X1 Essential serial doesn't work, I bet I have to wait for a X1 Studio serial number to arrive.  No email yet, and no serial number posted on my Cakewalk account. but its the weekend and maybe I have to wait for customer service to send me one on Monday.  What do you think?

    FYI - Just to close this thread
     
    Called Cakewalk and they had an IT problem so they never sent me my serial number.  I got it yesterday and X1 Studio is up and running.  Problem solved.
     
    BTW - X1 Studio is pretty cool.
