Free plugins from Computer music magazine?

Have any of you guys done this? Is it worth it, or just a scaled down attempt to get you to buy the full versions?

I have and use a lot of their plugins. I used to read CM a lot and every now and again I get a copy to read, and the bonus is to get some rather nice plugins and synths. They won't replace my Fabfilter, Waves, Native Instruments etc stuff but they add to my arsenal. They only give you fully function versions of the VSTs so even though some of them are more like LE versions of the plugs, they do not work or feel like demo versions. Of course they are an attempt to get you to buy the full version, but in most cases, I have found good use of what's there already. Most of the VSTs are 64-bit as well. If you want the mag, then you get some cool tools

I grab an issue maybe once a year.  Over the years they have offered some very good plugins and some that were no better than mediocre freeware.  Every now and then they will offer a full version like when they were giving out z3ta+.  Most of the plugins are  custom variations of plugins made by commercial plugin makers.  Often they are variations of their commercial offerings with a subset of features.  An example would be ADM CM which is basically the TR606  module of the full version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy4-gEKFr8Y

Some of the plugins are either redundant or gimmicky, but there is usually something worthwhile.  I would wait until there is an issue with content you really find useful since most of the plugins are the same from month to month.  ALso, check out their youtube channel for samples of some of the plugins
