Free sweeties from FXpansion
FXpansion are giving away a free compressor from their DCAM range. Details can be found here. It says it available to account holders only but I'm not sure whether non fxpansion product owners can just create an account and download it but I'm guessing the answer would be yes they can. Steve

Yes it's been on and off for the last hour or so. I should have mentioned that this free offer is part of a range of new effects from DCAM. Doesn't have any presets if presets are your thing? Steve

I got an email from them but it seems the server is overloaded right now. Probably because the free compressor has a VU meter.

Strange the link I posted seems to work for me but they have a link on their facebook page and that one is down. I just downloaded the DCAM Dynamics demo and I'm wondering how long will it be before audiomidi or someone puts it out for $10 Steve

Arrrgh Looks like this one is Windows 7 only. Any one got to work on 64 bit Vista. I know the Eco update installers won't run on vista. I am travelling at the moment and can't test it myself. I want to stick with Vista until I replace my DAW sometime next year. I don't want the upheaval of updating the OS on my very stable setup.

Since it's free Glyn I guess there's no harm in you trying it unless it specifically says not to. They dropped support for vista and all previous OS's some time ago but that doesn't always mean it wont work. Still if the installer wont work then I guess that would answer your question. Steve

I tried to PM you this morning mate, but you couldn't have received it. I don’t know if you can help me or not, but I’m having quite a bit of trouble getting BFD2 to render properly, either by freezing BFD or by bouncing to track. What’s happening is that my cymbals are rendering with an incomplete waveform – if I zoom in close enough it’s obvious that chunks are missing. I’ve tried increasing my Midi buffers, increasing latency, using BFD’s offline button, fast bounce, slow bounce, I don’t think there’s a single setting in BFD or Sonar that I haven’t adjusted. This is happening on all projects It’s not happening on all cymbal hits, just a dozen or so on each track. But here’s where it gets interesting – the missing chunks appear in exactly the same place, irrespective of settings. As luck would have it, the Fxpansion forums were down last night & again this morning, so any light you can shed will be gratefully received mate.

Might have to try that. Just a though though - an 8 minute song with 20 tracks = 160 minutes bounce time. Better get the popcorn lined up. Or let it run overnight.

I caved! Free....well ... ok....why...I don't know? Just Because..... But Amplitube 3 looks like a good deal.........it is better than guitar Rig? or Pod Farm 2? or would it just be duplication?????? I mean how many compressors does one need? How many Guitar Rigs does one need? too many decisions....... I caved on the Gen 16 Z deal as well.......do I really need more crashes and another drum sequencer????? Not Really....Just another program to keep registered and updated and to learn argh! SD 2 and EZD and Session Drummer seems to cover it pretty well.... Oh the Pain.....the Pain............................................................................................. Clifford

First Amp3 is better than GR4 (but GR5 is much improved) and Podfarm IMHO. Second, No it won't be duplication. Third, you'll be glad you got the Gen16. You can't have too many drums or cymbals. Fourth, cheer up. You're doing fine:-)

Clifford Clifford Once you get to grips with Eco I think you'll see that it's a much better option than the ones you already have. Also you may even want to upgrade either to the full version of Eco or even BFD2. I say full version because if you've not read it already it seems the Eco DV is 32bit only where as the full version is 64bit. I have never had a problem with 32bit Eco and bitbridge and being a lighter version means it doesn't really need all that extra RAM anyway. Your machine should run it fine and you'll hardly notice any difference in performance. Steve

IMHO, Amplitube, Guitar Rig, Waves GTR, POD Farm and most others are interchangeable. The only one that's in a category of its own is S-Gear. I have most of them and I use each of them for different things. Usually, it's trial and error until you get what you're after. The other day I re-opened a project I hadn't worked on since January. The guitars were laid across 3 tracks and I was surprised to hear how good and cohesive they sounded, so I switched to the mixer view and saw that I had used a different amp sim on each track - GR 5, Amplitube and S-Gear. Amp sims are like drums - you can't have too many. ;)

For me...I tend to fall back on Amp3 just because I'm so used to and like the GUI as well as the sounds. But I have to agree with my ol pal Rain...S-Gear is unique...fabulous...and cheap. What more could you ask for? I use it for almost all my "tasty" "creamy" walter beckeresque stuff as well as the best blues tones ever. It's a must have.

But why would it not be duplication? More guitar rack gear? Is it really so different......I do hear a difference between POD Farm and Guitar Rig....maybe not a whole lot...but there is s difference..... Wouldn't Ammp 3 be the same kind of deal? (But there is a whole lolt of gear being offered in this deal!!!) Oh...I got my Gen 16 Pkg yesterday.....But before I install it I think I am going to want to get BFD Eco 1.5 which is 64 bit and has the Rock legends samples included in the DL for $49.00 .........I was looking at the Fx Expansion site yesterday and they have an expansion package for Japan's Taiko Drums!!! I just know I am going to have to have that!!!!!! never know when your in the mood for a little Tribal !!!!!!!!! Thanks! :-) Clifford
