Freedom Road

Been mulling over posting this one for a while - must be over a year since I penned this in response to a bet with a mate that I couldn't write a power ballad (after he listened, he claimed he'd won lol).

The piano track is built from EzKeys the lyrics were written in about 30 minutes and contain about every songwriting cliche going, so don't look for deep and meaningful - you won't find it here.

My son says all my guitar solos sound the same but - as I told him - I'm playing the same notes, but not necessarily in the same order. 😂

Anyway here's my take on a 70s/ 80s classic power ballad with a trip down 'Freedom Road'

Andy you captured the saccharine moment that was the 80's.  All my songs from that era were about girls.  WTF!  Your song is great though, and you have a very nice voice.

Cheers David - ditto with the 80s theme but I find those teenage angst-ridden attempts at songwriting of mine seem so lame and simplistic nearly 40 years later. Many have been lost and forgotten - which is probably no bad thing.

I have rather fallen for building songs around EzKeys tracks - which always splits opinion - but I do feel it's helped me improve my songwriting. However I need to get back to some wholly original compositions next, as oppose to writing lyrics for someone else's piano tracks.

That said, it worked out pretty well for Bernie Taupin! 😂

Certainly getting the late 70's/early 80's vibe here, really nicely recorded and enjoyed the listen. Nothing to critique here.

Cheers for that, although I can hear plenty of opportunities to sharpen it up. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks to all for taking the time to listen and comment. Andy
