Freeze - Automatically delete all frozen audio files?

I haven't tried freezing yet, because I am worried about cluttering up my disk (and backups) with large audio files.

I have a few questions:

1) Does unfreezing a track delete the corresponding audio file?

2) Is there a way to automatically delete all frozen audio files in the current project?

3) Is there a way to automatically append or prepend a special string to frozen audio files, so that we can find and delete them later from our backup directories (in case we forgot to unfreeze before backing up)?

Thanks!

Best way is to save a project to a new folder where it copies all data that is used. Then, delete the original folder.
I forget the name of it but, there's a menu item that does this also.

Ya know! Disk space is the least of our troubles,,, You will never manage the time to fill up a couple of 500Gig +++ drives. But good house keeping is always pertinent so like Tim is saying if you manage your audio folders properly you can just transfer them to an external/ internal back up drive and forget about them.
Check your pathways under Global options.
I keep each "album" in a folder. Within that folder are all the songs as CWP and the audio folders too. Everything , album art, Nero's burn project, Mastered WAVE's- MP3's, Lyrics are in that folder.  I transfer them between computers all the time. But that folder will contain everything to do with that album. When the album is finished I might delete it from my DAW's audio drive. But it will still be stored in the DAW back up drive and my external transfer drive.

What I do is consolidate the project and it gets rid of all the deleted audio files for me so the project doesn't get too large.
It's easier than what timi just posted

That's a reasonable concern, Travis. SONAR does have a sometimes annoying habit of never deleting anything. Even when you explicitly delete a clip! And the waste can be significant - I've recovered over 2GB of disk space by consolidating a project and physically deleting unused files. And that was just one project.

I would not let this deter me from using the freeze function, though. It's just too useful.

P.S. Beware deleting frozen tracks. I once deleted a frozen track, and even though the original unfrozen files were still there the project was trashed. I had to create new tracks and import the data to recover from that mistake.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

There are a couple of tools that will find and allow you to delete audio files that are no longer being used in a project.... like audio tracks/clips you have deleted. I use the Clean Audio Folder tool. Others swear by the CWAF (Cakewalk Audio Finder) Tool. Both can be found in the Tools Menu.
