Freeze the synth, and drag/drop audio to Matrix view..

A question about this process, has been added two posts down.  Thanks :-)

Not only does that defy the laws of physics.  Its plain rude.  And awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

off the hook sick.. you drag the audio into the matrix, do a little of the vertical arrange, then you drag le audio back to the track, do a mega-edit..  than back into the matrix... so on, and so forth

lol...   Hey what is this piece of data, that looks like a blank audio clip.  I can't seem to delete it.  When I lasso, it seems to connect to the audio clip below?

    Cheers

It's a visual representation of data in a track folder.

If you delete the audio below it, it will disappear.

    Try this:

1: Collapse the track folder using the little grey square in top left corner (next to EKS Pro 1 text).

The blank white square will still be there.

2: Expand the track folder using the same grey square then delete the audio, (which will make the blank white square also disappear)

3: Collapse the track folder again and the blank white square will still be missing because you have no data in the track folder.

    Hope this helps.

Yep, just got home & I can see it now.

Like Oddmeister says, it's just a graphic showing where in the timeline you have Midi data associated with that particular folder

@Linear Phase, something else that I should have also mentioned is that:

The blank white square is linked to all data directly below it  (either midi or audio) within the folder, so if you had 10 tracks in the folder (each containing data, 2 measures in length) then 10 blank squares of different colours appear and these would be linked to all 10 tracks. This means that:

You can drag the blank squares along the time line and all the audio below it  (ten tracks, 2 measures in length) will follow.

You can also split the blank squares (for example at 1 measure) using the split tool and this will also split the audio below it (all 10 tracks in one go).

You can also use "CTRL + mouse click and drag" on the blank squares to copy and drag data along the time line.

So all of this can be quite a time saver for work flow.

    Thanks again, Bristol_Jonesey and Oddmeister...

Now that I understand what it is.. I'm kinda happy its there.  "If my synth has like 45 outs; if I use all the outs and freeze the tracks, close the track folder; I still get a representation of where the audio and midi are."  Obviously, I wouldn't close a track folder on EKS Pro, but I have a few synths with many, many outs, and that is why I am just leaving my, "insert synth options, set the way I like em."

    Makes perfect sense!

Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE the track folders in Sonar? Because I do... love them... a lot. Peace.
