Freezing then unfreezing guitar rig stacks turns off all the components (GUITAR RIG 5 X3b)

Freezing then unfreezing NI guitar rig 5 stacks turns off all the components...

As above, in X3b.

Then when you turn them all back on individually the Guitar Rig 5 components dont respond.

Just a warning to Fellow Guitar Rig Users to be wary of freezing and unfreezing...unless of course I am missing something here....

Does it to GR4 as well.  Guess I'll try reverting to X3a, that's a pretty serious problem if you ask me.

    Hi dke!

I cant tell if its an NI issue or Sonar, to be honest I havent ever dared freeze and unfreeze a Guitar Rig stack before...

I will send through the offending Project File to the Bakers so they can take a look.

...Just a word of caution to all Gtr Rig 5 users (maybe previous versions as well but I dont have Grig 4) ALWAYS save your stacks/rigs and be careful of freezing, maybe save a project as a different name type, reopen and then freeze...i.e backup before freezing/unfreezing.

I've had no problems freezing/un-freezing GR tracks in X2 and earlier versions.  Don't know about X3a because I haven't  tried it yet, but X3b definitely has a problem with it.

I hate to go thru the hassle of reinstalling X3a though, so I'm probably just going to watch out for it till it's hopefully fixed.

I have had an on again off again problem with Guitar Rig components and Sonar since I've been using them. Nothing to do with freezing - they just randomly reset all controls to zero when I open a project sometimes. Definite compatibility issue - I hope Cake work with NI on this the way they worked with Waves.

Thanks for the heads up, markyzno. I'm a Guitar Rig 5 user. Think I will take your advice and save a version of my projects with a different name so I can have a copy of the amp settings.

    Rock on!

Just tested this with X3B and yes it did in fact kill the stack for me as well. Will test now with X2A and report back.

OK just tested with X2A and the same thing happened, so at this point not sure if this Cakewalk or NI issue.

I tested in X2a and had no problem, this is with GR4 though not GR5.

Its actually a GR bug where the plugin loses its state if its loaded after the plugin is running. The same happens in pre X3 versions. However I may be able to work around it since I had to do something similar when it broke with simply loading projects. The prior version of GR didn't have this issue.
I'll try and address it on our end for the next patch if possible.

I suggest downloading the "TH2" patch and trying that :D.

Seriously though, next time TH2 is on sale, give it a look see.  I bought it back in the X2 days, since I didn't have the NI stuff then. Now I do have GR5 and it is nice, but I think TH2 is better. The interface is a little silly (overly visual) but the sound is great. Too expensive at their standard $200 price, but if there's another deal to upgrade on the cheap from the Sonar version, have a look at it.

Not that the GR5 problem doesn't need fixing.

    Scuffham S-Gear = AWESOME.

    But I use GR5 a lot! I won't freeze. I save my presets luckily.

I honestly never cared for TH2, I gave it a try with the version included in X2, but of all the amp sims I have I always end up gravitating back toward GR.

I have had issues with GR5 in X2, but never the same issue with GR4 (random preset switching). The issue was never resolved, but I have not tried GR5 in X3 yet. I can only roll my eyes and say "Figures..."

My guitar stacks have both TH2 AND Guitar rig 5 lol!...I run Guitar Rig on my individual tracks and then TH2 on my Guitar Master Buss....
