Freq Spectrum Analyzer with Sonar Professional

Did I miss something? I've been looking for a spectrum analyzer in Sonar Professional.  It helps me to view the wave form when using the equalizer.  Is this even available?

If have older versions installed I think even if they did not include the actual Freq Analyst you shoudl be able to do a scan or FX browser refresh and it'll show up.

It would be a shame if they removed it though because as awesome as the QC flyout analyser is the Freq Analyst could do crazy stuff like write automation and it had those reference lines you could enable to check your frequency curve across the spectrum to make sure nothing was sticking out in the wrong place.

IIRC, Sonar PRO has the flyout EQ but not the flyout spectrum analyzer if you are referring to the pro-ch.
I still have the Cakewalk Analyst from previous versions.
Go to Voxengo.com and get their free version of Span. It is pretty good.

MFreeEffectsBundle has both a free standing spectrum analyzer plug-ins and an EQ with a built-in spectrum analyzer.

I think this is one of those scenarios where if they removed the feature for the sake of stability and/or modernizing the program it would be nice if paid users had the option to download legacy tools from their accounts. Just put a big bad ole warning alongside it stating they are outdated and may cause performance issues.

Like the the VC-64 and some of the old 32 bit thingies. If Cake still owns the rights to these tools I think it would be a nice option to have. It certianly comes up enough here on the forum.

Microapp has it correct.  No frequency analyzer in Professional.

Before quad curve EQ, I used Voxengo Span so consider this another endorsement for that bit of kit.

I just started using X3 Producer & am considering getting SONAR Professional.
I didn't know until now that pow-r rendering was missing, didn't realize that comparing versions in the features list here.

Is there anything else that's not listed I should be aware of?

If you're using X3 Producer, I would upgrade to Platinum. It's the top tier in the Sonar line now.

    Thanks
I already have full versions of most of the included plugins, synths, AD2. The pc modules aren't necessary plus I write mostly instrumental music so I really don't need the VocalSync.

I'm more interested in how basic options differ from X3 Producer from SONAR Pro that aren't on that chart.
Features like pow-r would be a factor when choosing versions.

OT but I'm thinking I could always upgrade to Plat from Pro at a later date but I can't find the info.
Anyone know what the cost would be? I'm not following the pricing at the page here.

    Hello!

I believe the upgrade price currently is $149, but at a later date will be $199. I can't place where I saw this, so I hope it's accurate!

    Hope this helps!
    -Hypocrita

PS: This price not only includes Sonar Platinum, but a 12 month subscription, as well! I thought it best to mention that because I feel it's a rather important detail.

Hypocrita, what you say is accurate for X3 Producer to Sonar Platinum, though some would word it differently
    (to Sonar Professional, it's 100$).

I haven't seen a Sonar Professional to Platinum price.

just to clarify: there is NO spectrum analyzer like the cakewalk AN-879 analyst that is included with sonar platinum?
That just seems so backwards that I'd have to download a third party plugin just to do such a simple and critical task..

You can look at it this way...

As you may have seen...Voxengo's SPAN has become the defacto standard in SONAR circles for quite some time.  Cakewalk included an analyzer at one time, but very few people used it, because they had "imprinted" on SPAN already.  Cake probably was merely reacting to the "truth on the ground" and decided to stop shipping (and supporting) something that was getting minimal use anyway.

Also...it allows Voxengo a foot in the door to introduce their product line to Cakewalk customers...in a "one hand washes the other" fashion.

If you have Platinum there is analysis available via the EQ in the Pro Channel. Use the fly-out feature to enlarge the the display and the analysis will be running on screen behind the EQ points.

Blue Cat Audio also has a free version of their FreqAnalyst. I use FreqAnalyst Pro or Multi most often, when one is needed separate from an EQ...
