Fresh Eggs

Many of you may be aware that I am a tech for the local cable company here in the Fort Worth area. Of late, I have been working around Azle, a delightfully eclectic mix of trailers, mansions, and farms.
Yesterday, I was at a farm. After I solved the issue at hand, the owner presented me with 18 fresh eggs. Not store fresh(typically 20-30 days old), but plucked from the henhouse that morning. Brown shells. Cholesterol rich.
I picked up some bacon on the way home, and scrambled a bunch of them up for dinner.
They were good. Really good.
Simple things. It's the little stuff that makes life worth living.

    RobertB (ITYRN),

It can happen to the best of us.

But now you have to be extra careful not to repeat the infraction for another 26 days.

Robertb nothing beats fresh eggs..... (pun in ten did)

We have 3 hens in a back yard pen and get one to two fresh eggs like you described every day.

every now and then we let them roam the yard. I have to keep an eye on them since they are so destructive to flower and vegetable gardens and they will decimate my blueberry bushes in short order when the berries are ripe.

They also do not respect property lines and I don't think the neighbors appreciate the chicken's gardening skills or their fertilizer.

But those eggs sure are tasty.

Snap! I got a dozen fresh eggs still warm from the hen house, as a bonus for putting up a fence last weekend. They were small, but delicious.

Having chickens is always a surprise.

I have found a few eggs that were the size of robin eggs, and a few that were so big..... I eve asked them which one of the girls laid that one. I watched to see if any of them were walking funny.....

With my girls, size, shape, and color do vary.

My wife, who grew up on a turkey farm, says that egg looks like the shells of two eggs fused together during development...she saw that on occasion.
