Frictionless Echoes

Hi,

A new track, from my forthcoming album "Infinity Plus One" (to be released on the 29th February - it's not often you get the chance to release on that date! :-) ).

This is a bit of a departure from my usual - there are more guitars than normal for a start (and they're mostly real too!) and the piano has a much less important part than normal.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it.

Cheers,
Terry.

This is a very nice, melodic theme with some very tasty tones.  I can hear how you could stretch this out, but sometimes short and sweet is exactly  right.  Nice production, and good luck on your new album.

wow, this is incredible from the beginning, Terry!  I haven't heard a lot of your stuff, maybe only one or two before this and it's been a while since I listened to those.  this is just fantastic, tho.  I love that guitar and the synths are wonderful!  really nicely orchestrated!  nice sounding piano as well.  really liked that distortion gutiar when it came in, too!

I'm drifting off to a very pleasant place.  Great ambience, nice dynamics.  Nice loud mix.  You really write some beautiful stuff and this is one of them. Some overdriven guitar in here and this would fit right on any Tangerine Dream album.

    Very nice.

    Hi,

Thanks everyone for listening and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it every time!

Lynn: Thanks for the compliments on the track, and for the good luck wishes... I'll need every one!

Guitarpima: Thanks! And again, I'll take all the good luck wishes I can get!

Beagle: thanks! That's a long list of ticks from someone who's opinion I value. Makes me think that maybe I know a thing or two (or maybe just one) after all. Or I just got lucky.

Daryl: Thanks. You know, I've never listened to any TD (gasps of shock from the forum) but a few of my tracks have been compared to them. Perhaps I should go and check them out!

    Thanks again.

    Cheers,
    Terry.

Hi Terry, nice one ! Like the build up. On my crappy speakers the section from 2:16 to 2:20 sounds very distorted.

    Terry,

This piece really draws me in.  I have a lot of respect for your talent.  The guitar lead may be a touch ahead of the track.

    Hi,

Rik: Thanks for listening! I think I may have overdone the compression and limiting in places. Wish I could afford a professional!

Rimshot: Thanks! I have a tendency to race ahead a bit with my guitar playing, I'll have to try really hard to rein it into time!

Thanks again to everyone that's listened!

    Cheers,
    Terry.

On Tuesdays when I work late, I listen to just this sort of music on a local NPR affiliate station while driving home.  It helps me let go of the hectic day.

    Nice work.

I liked it, but it didn't grab me and pull me in like a co-star in a scene from Debbie does Dallas.

I was getting ready to get on to you for not telling me you had posted a new song that had slipped to the 2nd page before I got around to it.  Then I realized I'd heard it before.  :)

Anyway, it's still great.  Soothing and majestic and melodic.  I especially like the strings when they come in.  Did you move the lead guitar back?  It doesn't seem ahead of the beat now.

And I think you can safely say that you do indeed know a thing or two...and it's not just luck.  You set the bar high, IMO.  Lots of luck on the CD release!

Hi Terry - A fascinating piece of music that held me enthralled from the first second to the very last. The build in intensity is perfectly judged and the final release masterful. This is wonderful composition and performance.

Wow, more comments! I thought once it had slipped to page 2 that would be it!

Thanks everyone for listening, and commenting.

    @Lance: Thanks!

@bandontherun: Erm, I'll take that as a compliment. What kind of music would grab you in the same way as Debbie Does Dallas?

@Janet - aha, so it's all down to you that this gets revived...! Thank you! I can't remember what I tweaked based on whose comments - I sent the tracks off to a couple of people and made various changes. And as for knowing a thing or two... I'm slowly getting there but still have a looong way to go.

@malcolm - thank you Malcolm. What more can a composer ask for than a piece of music that enthrals the listener who at the end says they enjoyed it.

    Cheers,
    Terry.

Ok this has a Pink Floyd vibe so nice, really well executed.  I did notice though in sounding like Pink Floyd there were a couple of melodies that sounded like Coming Back To Like from The Division Bell.

Overall though nice, liked it a lot esp because there is no new Pink Floyd music anymore.

    Keep it up

    Peace Ben

Yeah ! This is nice - right up my street this one. The intro kinda reminds me of Twenty Years by Placebo. Like this a lot.
