Friends in the US - please check in

Hey Guys,

I'm sure I speak for everyone outside of the States and not on the East Coast that we're pretty concerned about you all with the hurricane.

It would be great if you could just check in and drop a line to say you're OK, have the power back on and are back online.

All the best,

Simon

There were several people yesterday saying they were right in the path of it, and it is a bit of a worry.

We've lost one member so far this year and that was bad enough.

I'm particularly concerned about DannyD and Sharke - it looks like they've had it bad.

If anybody hears from them, please could they post.

I guess we may not know for a while as a lot of people will be without electricity for quite a while.

Being in Tulsa and dealing with what I do for a living I have been keeping a close eye on this whole thing. I am concerned about all our forum friends as well and they have been in my thoughts and prayers.

I don't think they can check in yet. lots of people are without power and the subway system is flooded

Although I don't think they may be able to check in yet. I agree that they should to let us know they are all right as soon as possible.

Good to hear from you twisted. How long did you have to pedal the treadmill for to get the power to make that post?

    Tied the trampoline down!

Hehehe... same here.     Tied the legs to the deck and the fence, added some extra tie-downs between the outer mat and the frame, and took the safety netting down.

Edit: Hearing stories of trampolines that weigh a few hundred pounds rolling around in high winds was inspiration to tie the crap out of that thing.

Apparently more popular than we knew. There was one on the news last night that got airborne and landed on the overhead electrical wires.

Yeah, I would say they're somewhat popular as an alternative to swings.  They're good exercise if you're on for more than a few minutes since they can really work the quads.  They can be fun too!   At least that's what my daughter and her friends say.

Friends across town have one that did in fact "blow away" a few years back, damaging part of a wood fence and crashing into their neighbour's house.    So I figured it'd be a good idea to never know what that's like.

Similar, but they're more for the quads than the biceps.   But I'm a firm believer in high reps for biceps with the right, uh, weights.

For once a crazy storm missed Florida..  But I am originally from NY, and I am very concerned about all the people without power.  October is NY is very cold, and windy.  Especially in the city..  and all that water is freezing!  I am afraid there will be many with hypothermia

I consider myself lucky as both my house and boat are ok.. and as you can tell, I even have electricity.. all of the downtown area was flooded and there is plenty of the expected collateral damage... We saw about a 7ft surge here as of 10pm Monday...

    *Present*

Was a rough ride, but I'm still kickin'. Had a wizard of oz moment though which was sort of cool, but really scary. I get flooding here if I'm not careful. I saw two of my gutters had blown off so of course I had to go out and put them back on. Next thing you know I feel this wind and I end up in a strange place hanging on to a piece of metal all disoriented until I realized I'd been taken to the other side of my yard. LOL! Whew...best "blow" I ever had! :) I hope everyone else is ok.

Thankfully, I made it with no trees down and no loss of power.

Good to hear that others here fared well except for loss of power and occasional wind powered flights across yards.
My old hometown of Moonachie and the town where I still work (Little Ferry) are making headlines up here- major flooding throughout. I wonder how long it will take for the water there to recede?

I believe that was a unicorn head.   Subtle difference, but I believe its' very important to the rollerblading crowd.

I think Manhatten had a black out, but I'm not sure how close he is.   Then there was the explosions at the nearby power plant.   That's scary stuff.

One of his last posts was him saying he saw one of the power stations blowing out. Con Ed substation or something like that. There's video of it and the plasma bursts were epic. I posted it in the other thread but I'm beeps deep in editing so I ain't hunting for it. I'm sure he's fine though. Just no power.
