From now on....

All CH disputes are to be settled by a staring contest.

First person who blinks loses.

Just start a thread for yourselves and don't post anything anywhere until you blink.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

I've looked at this idea for 10 minutes now and if something is to be achieved by doing this I can't see it.

Perhaps I'm staring at the wrong place.

I think you need to realise that staring may offend some people and that you should take this into account before encouraging people to stare.

Some people just don't like it

and others will feel the need to complain about the staring on behalf of the people who may have been offended but haven't even seen it because they're not here.

Others still may not mind the staring, but will be offended by the concept of blinking. It is after all a word that is occaisionally used as a substitute for a naughty word....."where did I put my blinking keys......" for example. We all know that the word in their head wasn't really "blinking" was it  ? Therefore, the implied use of profanity may offend some people.

I did think that maybe it would just be safer not to post anything at all.......ever. But then someone's bound to complain that everyone is ignoring them now and that it is offensive . Or someone will complain on behalf of those that don't know that they are being ignored because they do not come here any more and therefore don't know that people are ignoring them behind their backs, which is mean.

I would just like to say most sincerely and from the bottom my heart that if I have ever offended anyone on here in any way shape or form that I'm really,

    really,

    really,

    really,

    really,

really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really,

not bothered in the slightest and humbly suggest that you get a life. (Unlike myself as I spend far longer than is 'normal' hanging around here.)

Luckily I have anticipated all of these problems (and others) and have developed a strategy to deal with them appropriately:

    It's called "not caring".

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.
