Frustration! No audio output, guitar input ok!
Hi All, Hope you can help with my issue. I'm a newbie with Sonar X1 & I have been using this only for a few weeks. I loaded the whole thing onto my laptop & it has been working fine until this morning! I've been learning the basics & managed to get a cool drum groove tracked & also a few guitar parts. This morning I came to use it & no audio out! I have audio In to my interface (Akai EIE PRO) but nothing to Sonar X1 in or out. I have checked the in's & out' as per the setup video's & advice from this forum but no joy. Any advice would be gratefully received as this point. Thanks Brian

By any chance, did you plug the interface into a different port than what it had been plugged into before? If so, it might goof up the drivers, which may goof up Sonar. I used to have problems with a Native Instruments Kore 1 audio interface, until I finally started putting it into exactly the same port as the one it was in when I installed its drivers. What shows up in Sonar's Preferences>Audio>Devices? Also, is your Driver Mode the same as what you had it set to when things were working? Is your Windows Default Audio Device also set to your audio interface? If so, perhaps something outside of Sonar in Windows is grabbing the audio interface and Sonar can't get to it. Bob Bone

Also, if your audio interface is designed for USB 2 ports, be careful about plugging it into a USB 3 port, as some interfaces get pretty wacky in that scenario. Bob Bone

When you boot Sonar, do you get a message saying there's no audio interface? Are the drivers grayed out? I've been tripped up a few times by having a solo button on I forgot about...

This may not be the case, but I have often found that another application is using the playback device. If I shut down that application the playback works. Another thing I find useful, I have no idea as to why, lies in the [Preferences][Device Settings] menu item. If you allow Sonar to exercise the [wave profiler]option the playback devise will once again work after applying and closing the results of the profiler action.

I have to say that I too am curious as to how you are a brand new X1 user? I mean no disrespect - it just seems an extremely odd/unlikely situation. Bob Bone
