Funk Crazy (1st World Problems)

great tune, feel to it.
personally would try to get some more seperation between the refrains and chorus in dynamics.
the hi-hat 16ths (or are they 32s ? sorry..) throughout the whole song, get a little fatiguing (sorry if I misspelled that), would choose 8ths hihats for the refrain and than maybe add a 16ths tamborine for the chorus.
 
typical thing for us white people imo is getting any funk song a little busy throughout a song, maybe have a part after the chorus for the people to just dance to without any vocals.

Bob, this is excellent. You have the funk, you can write a darn good song, and your lyrics not only scan really well, but they make me smile - 'I'm in redemptive scenes' and 'jump in my ponderous ride'- that's good writing.
 
I like that first pass solo too...

LOL, yeah, it's busy, I kept coming up with ideas and stuck 'em in there. What's that line? "Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD"? That's me, heh.

You got funk down man...I'd like to hear a short delay on your vox instead of the reverb on it and hear the drums/percussion spread out a little more.  I'd like to hear the drums and backing vox a little brighter.  Nice song...especially the intro.  Brass is really nice to the end...nice swells.

Thanks Donny! I've cleaned the lead vox up a bit, probably still too much 'verb on the BG vox but I kinda like it like that.

Thanks so much James, that means a lot. Sometimes I think my lyrics get a little obtuse (is that the right word?) I kinda like those lines too, so you've made my day!
I know I could do a better job technically on the solo, but after listening for a couple of days I like the feel on that take so maybe it's a keeper....

Oh yeah, dat be some funky stuff.   Just a flat out great feel.    Not much to add to the mix comments above, I think it already sounds good but maybe a tweak here and there... 
 
And FWIW, no, I haven't seen those shoes.

This is nice and funky. At first I thought I was in for a Wham thing but this is a nice surprise. 
I think the snare could come up a bit and the bass drum a few more bits. Love the bass line! The high pass on the bass could be lowered a touch to give it some more low end.

Hey, thanks a lot! Yeah, the drum mix is giving me a hard time on this one. I've tried to get a bit more definition in the new mix but I'm still not happy with it. And you're right about the bass, I put a little of the low end back in it.

Thanks very much James. I looped a lot of the bass line to save time (and my sanity, I tend to have a lot of, ah, "artifacts" in my bass playing.)
The horns are NI Session Horns Pro. The line itself is a midi phrase I had laying around that seemed to fit.

OK, mix wise, I'd agree, tighten the reverb a little on the lead vocal.
 
I'm a keyboard player, but I'd say lower the epiano on the instrumental intro section. It seems nicely balanced as is after that.
 
I'd vote for the funk guitar riff up more, when there are no vocals.
 
If "Funk Crazy" is the title, it's only sung by the background ladies and when they sing it, you might punch them up a little so we get the title.
 
Snare up, when there is no singing.
 
Your fade out at the very end could be a little more drawn out, it chops at the "whoo-hoo"
 
 
I'd say your awesome mix is 95% done. Really cool tune and thanks for sharing your funk gift!

All really valid ideas, I addressed some of them in the new mix, but after listening I realize I have more to do in "round 3", LOL.
