Funktakt

Hi all,
I've finally finished my first original tune in quite some time, originally inspired after purchasing Kontakt 5 during the last Christmas sale - hence the title.

Drums, bass, horns, organ and clav are all from an instance of Kontakt, the vocoder is Reaktor through the free TAL VST, and finally a little guitar (TH2 Producer) added for good measure.

Hey Steve. Enjoyed That! "and finally a little guitar (TH2 Producer) added for good measure"...That was an understatement. Was that some backwards guitar in there? Anyway nice stuff Steve. Thanks for sharing it.   Jim

Thanks, James!   The guitar parts were added last since the tune still needed a little something, so I guess that's my "little something".

And yes, that guitar part towards the end was the old "record the reverb from the part played backwards and then play that recording forwards" technique.   It kind of gives it a bit of that "poltergeist" effect.

It was fun to do, and it gave me the opportunity to start the learning process with Kontakt.  I figured a single stereo instance would force me to see what's in the box.

Very nice, there's some thump missing from the bottom and some snap and sizzle missing from the highs, but musically I dig it.

I did struggle a bit with some excessive high end on the horns and may have overcompensated a little.  For the bottom end, I thought I had it about right but this is exactly why multiple listening envronments are important!
