I was going to make a joke about the possibility of the girl being French and not actually British … but I guess that would be completely inappropriate and offensive to some.

Yeah but only to a French person, who obviously would be reluctant to get that close to their own armpit even if they could bush whack their way there. It's OK, my neighbours are French and they know it's all part of the cross-channel banter...  If there was a French contingent here they'd probably tell me I wet the bed and eat roast beef. Neither thing is true of course. (or is it?)

As noted by JB The actual location is undefined it could be anywhere in the known universes, but with my experience of our near neighbours cleanliness record then assuming them just over the channel would not be that inaccurate an assumption. No French persons cleanliness record was besmirched unintentionally.

Actually Reece you may have a point. I just tried out this myself and I'm wondering now how long I've been smelling like a polecat. OK, so now I know, the only solution I can think of is not to get so close to people and check again in a few months to see if the funny smell has gone away.
