Just a guess....

The Basestar jumped before news of Captain Six getting shot travelled to the Centurions.

She needed to stall, she has her chance now. The preview shows her hospitalized.

Technically, you're hijacking you own thread but this topic is better!

Tori, Tigh, Tyrol, Anders - I'm not sold on them being Cylons, not until I see another one.

Oh, I definitely think they're Cylons. Especially Tory. She gets off on it (as well as getting off on Baltar). And didn't that one Centurion stop from blasting Anders out of the sky because it sensed he was one of the final 5?

They are the final 5, but I just can't figure out who the 5th is. The way they are writing this story, Adama could be the 5th. You just don't know.

I think it's too late in the year to even think about any activity from Cakewalk regarding Project5. Most likely they're hard at work on this year's Sonar 8 "Subscription" upgrade (i.e. it occurs every year, just like a subscription). For me, I will stay at v7 unless v8 really sh...ts tiffany cuff links. One thing would be wrapping P5's functionality into Sonar, especially the Pattern Sequencer, Arrange Pane, and Groove Matrix. Aside from that, a new compressor, or other massive "gold-plating" ain't gonna get my $180 bucks this time around. Been there, done that. Got the credit card bill.

Nick,
If Cakewalk cut P5, then I guess the Groove Matrix would show up in Sonar 8. I really hope not. It would mean I would have to use Sonar. Cakewalk's last word (long ago) was P5 stays and there will be an update.

Kb,
Tory certainly "believes" she is a Cylon, but so does Baltar. The writers do have their hands full. Since there are now eight possible Cylons, and a LOT of explaining to do.

Agreed. No way would I even think about moving to Sonar until they clean up that nightmare of an interface.

Difference is, Baltar wasn't in the room with the others that learned they were part of the final 5. I don't think Baltar is a Cylon. He's just a schitzophrinic traitor that now has a Messiah complex that even he doesn't believe in.

But Baltar IS in a shared dream between Six, Eight and Roslyn.

My prediction is that they are all prehistoric and WE are their hybrid offspring.

Well, we'll have to keep watchin' to find out. It's a shame we have to wait 2 weeks before another new episode. They aren't showing one this Friday.

The more I think about it, the more this can't be the case. They said the 13th tribe went to Earth anyway, so they are already expecting humans to live on Earth. In the old series, when they did get to Earth, they were met with the modern day people of Earth. I know that this series is completely different, but I figured I'd throw that in anyway.

Didn't the hybrid say that the final 5 came FROM the 13th (to Starbuck)?
Maybe I heard it wrong, but I thought that's what I heard. I'll have to watch it again.

But that implies that the final 5 cylons are actually part of the 13th colony. Not necessarily from Earth, but part of the 13th colony.

All this has happened before, and will happen again...

Dig it?

They did say that, so that would mean that the final 5 are from Earth. So maybe the final 5 aren't Cylons at all, but actually humans from Earth.

Tori (first name), Tigh (last name), Tyrol (last name), Samuel T. Anders (middle name)...who ever the fifth cylon is, there is more than likely a T in either the first name of the character, or in the middle name.

Ooops.
Sorry for my part of that.

I often forget that not everyone is current, including me. I missed last week's show, and haven't seen it posted on SciFi.com yet.
But, I did read a spoiler overview of it already.

Wonder when it will be up on the Rewind section?

this is good stuff
as I see it the future of P5 is tied up in the future of the human race as we know it

or at least the fictional remnants in that space convoy

Hehehe.

On topic:
I'm really starting to think that the future of P5 AND the new uber synth Cake spoke of recently are one and the same: a standalone app that also runs free of rewire as an internal instrument.
Call me a wishful thinker, but honestly, that would be an excellent path for the application, IMHO... best of both worlds.

Sonar users of Project5 have been asking for tighter integration, and being an actual member of a project would be pretty tight.
But, P5-only folks would still want to be able to use the application standalone, without another host.

I don't know. Maybe not.
A plugin that's also a host might be quite difficult to code properly, I would imagine.
Or not. (I actually have no idea)

As for Cake's future:
No idea, really.
They'll be different. Don't know what that will produce or change, though.

I think so too but I don't think it will not be called P5 but something else and I think that the P5 users will still have to purchase it (maybe at a small discount). I think that the version 3 update was in the works but when roland became the majority owner they scraped that, maybe because the update would have taken too many man hours and still wouldn't be able to challange ableton. Roland is a company that is very impatient, if something doesn't sell quickly then they scrap it and go on to something else (i.e. the variphrase samper, the ds90 speakers, the varios, etc. ). I believe that it probably was impossible to implement all the features that roland wanted to add using the same P5 code so it had to be scraped and this new instrument is built from scratch. I believe the new instrument will have all the features of P5 but also a few new innovative ones.

Let's look at some of the signs:
1) Calkewalk/ roland has went head to head with Pro tools (sonar), and will probably do the same with ableton.
2) After version 2.5 cakewalk assured us that version 3 would be coming shortly, so I know they were gung ho about it at that point.
3) roland's trend is to go after the main competition (i.e. Mv8800 - Mpc, Fantom - triton, akai 24 track - rolands 24 track, Sonar - Pro tools, etc.)
4) What good is a partnership (cakewalk/ roland) if you're not going to go after the competion?

I am looking forward to this knew synth, Roland/ cakewalk better not disappoint or it may prove costly to them in the long run with their customers.

I hate to say I told you so but I read these tea leaves a long time ago. Times are tough and 60% of your company is no trivial sum of ownership, it is complete and absolute control.

Cakewalk's growth is most likely a problem as it most likely has already snared most of its users. If you think Apple hasn't put a dent in Sonar's fender you might want to think how many folks on this forum would be plugging away on Garageband, to Logic Express when they need a little more and then Logic Studio when they need it all.

Apple is hitting right at the crowd that Cakewalk wants to have buy Sonar and Logic Express is a whole lot of application that you can get for a great price.

$1,398.00
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 1x1GB
250GB Serial ATA Drive
Logic Express preinstalled
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB memory
20-inch glossy widescreen LCD

That is a nice audio rig and it is causing trouble, I will guarantee it. Personally, I have the 24" and that screen is awesome.

Lastly, no one ever says "We sold out and you are all screwed", when they sell out.

Apple is clearly on its way up and Cakewalk is going, who knows where?

I do believe Trusty is a cylon. Definitely!

I read somewhere that he secretly uses Logic and Reason.

To me, some consolidation makes sense. Take the best of P5, Kinetic (you think development tumbleweeds are rolling over here, what about Kinetic?), + the uber synth and roll it into something that would appeal to people who use Reason, FL, Live, and perhaps energy xt.

Just a thought....
