G-Force Streetly Tapes

This expansion for G-Force's M-Tron pro has been out for a while. Does any one here have it? If so what is your opinions, does it add significantly to the original library? Sound on Sound seem to think so in this review.

As a Mellotron fetishist (it's the only word for it) this expansion keeps tempting me but at price point of £59.99 there are a lot of other things I could buy instead. Now M-Tron pro is 64-bit there is one less thing to steel my resolve to keep the credit card in my wallet.

I also have the Hollow Sun "Newtron Bomb" which has a real raw sound compared to M-Tron pro and compliments it nicely. The latest update has added some extras like half speed and layering.

The Sonic Reality "tron kapsule" I picked up for next to nothing does not float my boat at all.

I got this some time ago and used it quite a lot in a couple of projects I was working on at the time - I thought it well worth the price I paid back then ( I can't remember how much that was)
I then had issues with MTron Pro on my system until it went 64bit, so haven't used it very much of late.
But I do think a very worthwhile addition, although you have to say 60 pounds does sound a little on the high side in todays marketplace..

Thanks. I will keep it on my wish list in that case, but I will probably wait until I am starting another Mellotron heavy song.

I love my MTron Pro right out of the box so to speak.  So when I saw this thread I took a look at the new Streetley Tape addition and what it includes in its library.  I might consider this way down the line, but this will be put much lower on my "to buy" list.  MTron Pro meets my needs just as it is and I really don't see my need for this addition right now.  I will probably buy something like Hollow Sun's Novachord (which would be a different kind of complement) before I dropped the 59Euro for this expansion library.  Still, it is good to see this thread and to be reminded of the option.

I will admit my 'tron obsession is probably incomprehensable to many. I have to remind myself of that when I start shaking my head at people getting excided about a new set or TR808 or TR909 samples or emulations

It all goes back to the music of my youth, Weaver, Wakeman, Wolstenholm, Banks and Fripp but most of all Blue Weavers playing on "New World" by the Strawbs.

I, too, have great nostalgia for trons. My musical life can be split into two distinct eras: before hearing In the Court of the Crimson King, and after. It changed everything.

Strangely, though, I have never put a mellotron into any of my own music, ever. I did, howerver, use a TR-808 for awhile. But only until I found some sucker to buy it from me.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I though it was a sucker who bought my TR-303. If only I had hung on to it for another year I could have got at least 10 times as much. Sadly my TR505 and Aleisis HR16 never attained cult status and are still gathering dust in the roof space.

Reviving this thread 'cause I just found out that GForce's Re-Tron (for Reason) in fact uses those Streetly Tapes for sounds instead of the M-Tron Pro tapes it's derived from.
