Gobbler is an online ('cloud' in the current vernacular) service designed specifically for media production professionals. It offers three main features:
1) online backup of your media projects
- the cool thing here is that Gobbler backs up at the project level, so it grabs not just the CWP file, but also all the audio files.
2) version control
3) file transfer for collaboration
It works quite well, and I think it is priced fairly.
I've been using it since it was first released for Windows, and while there have been minor bumps in the road, thus far it has yet to do anything bad with the files themselves... it's mostly been features that didn't work quite as expected, and to their credit, the developers at Gobbler have fixed everything I've asked about, usually within one drop.
Right now my 'next big request' is integration into Sonar, but that's going to require some enthusiasm on the part of Sonar users, and some serious encouragement pointed towards Boston, as the Gobbler folks can only do so much. Cakewalk will need to add the code required for deeper integration.
