GR20 pickup dying?

Today the low E and the A string show no signal to the GR20

I wiggled the cables but no joy.
The pup is a GK-3  I sprayed tuner control clean and lube to no change.
All I can think of is- are the pickups dying? Can that happen with the individual PUPs? (one for each string)
It started with one string while setting the sensitivity, and then very shortly, two.
I just got a M-Audio Uno to get it all into Sonar, got one song out of it and now this.
This midi thing seems like a house of cards.

There's an amount of comment on other forums about the need to clean both M and F connectors at each end of the 13-way cable. Also, are you sure that you haven't got damage to two of the cores in the 13-way cable? Easier to check these things than get into micro-surgey on you GK-3.

I have contacted someone with a synth. I'm hoping his cable works.
That is certainly the best case.
The PUp or the unit would be not worth the cost seeing as it's old tech.

I had to buy a new cable. It would be a pain to try and fix it.

Also look at the small cable that comes out of the pick up and make sure it is not damaged, Mine started to pull away so I put some silicon on it.

Thanks Johnny. Yeah I did check the PUp line between the PUp and the control.
Where in "The Bush" are you? I'm in comox on the island.
