GT Pro 3 - Have level signal, but does not record

Hi,
I have a guitar plugged in through my mic jack on a laptop with GT Pro 3.   I have a level stereo signal showing on the mix screen.   When I press record and start playing I do not see any clips forming on the Edit view and nothing records.  I tried recording with the Windows Recorder and I can record so there is input.   I can see the input signal on the mix view but some reason nothing records.   Any suggestions?
Thanks

What is the input set to in the track you're recording on?

I have 6 options:  Left Right and Stereo Integrated Microphone Array....and Left, Right and Stereo External Mic... I've tried all of them.  Funny thing is about 3 months ago I recorded something....and it worked then.   Haven't changed anything that I am aware of

    Hi there

Try opening up Options>Audio, click on the General tab, and make sure your soundcard is listed in the Record Timing Master field. If it's not, click on the drop-down arrow and see if it's listed. If so, select it and click OK.

Failing that, you could try running the Wave Profiler (on the same General tab).

What soundcard are you using, and what driver mode are you using?
