GTR 3 - Opinions?

CLA Guitars for $39 includes GTR 3 for free.  I'm actually more interested in GTR 3 than CLA guitars and wondered if anyone out there has tried it.  I have the free version of TH2 - but that's it for Guitars...  Is this comparable to Overloud?

I was pleasantly surprised when I got GTR3 as part of Gold.  I've been using it a lot.  Absolutely worth $39 - to me anyway

I use GTR3 a lot, very useful IMHO.  In my experience and my usage it is better that TH[x] and IK Aplitubes.  You should try the Demo to see if it fits the music and instruments you use.  At least for me it is very good in Bass and guitar.

It's worth having for sure at that price. You may find it's your fav. And the CLA Guitars is better than you might think. It can be very useful. Also you can get the CLA guitar at everyplugin.com for $26.10 with waves25 code. Don't know if you can get the free GTR there, though.

I just picked up the JJP Guitars for $19.99. Only one I didn't have. Same place, same code.

I was very surprised when I got GTR3. Just like Bob, I got it with the Gold bundle and never thought twice about it. Until I tried it. I love it.

And I also didn't think much of the CLA plug till i tried it.

Really good plugs. Both of them. And at the price you can get them from everyplugin.com .......

No-brainer!

Re: GTR 3 - Opinions? 2016/05/24 14:17:04 (permalink)
I installed them and licensed them to a thumbdrive.

1. can I move them to my desktop (win10)?
2. if I leave them on the thumbdrive, can I install them on my laptop 2 and just move the thumbdrive?

My stand alone of GTR3 won't open, saying "bad image" so I guess I have to reinstall it. Should I uninstall it first?

Thanks for any help. These are my first Waves plugs.

If you think something is screwed up with an install, you definitely want to do an uninstall/clean reinstall.

Good luck with the Wave Shell.

You may have installed/licensed them to a thumbdrive, but the license is PC-based. You move the thumbdrive, you got no license.

License? I don't need no stinkin' license.

Can I move the licenses to Windows/my desktop? I don't use the Cloud and have no account(there... yet?)

They can all stay on that PC as it's my mixing one. (I track some on my laptop in another room)

If Waves Central allowed you to put licenses on the thumbdrive, then you should be able to use the Manage Licenses part of Waves Central to move them to your PC.

I got it as part of a bundle and really like it. Especially for stereo guitar sounds, and it's my go-to for putting synths through a guitar amp for that grungy sound. It seems to sound better with synths than other amp sims. However I frequently forget I have it when I'm looking to amp up a guitar, probably because I just don't associate Waves with guitars or something like that!

I agree, for stereo processing it beats other ampsims, mainly because it's easy to get great results without tweaking too much. Tone, feel and other sound related stuff is highly subjective though, so YMMV.

I used to use mine standalone quite a bit for practice, but not so much now that I've figured out how the Tascam US-16x08 output routing works (bass => Input 9 (Inst) => Monitors; no PC interaction needed). I have a Markbass Compressore that I should pull out of storage and use.

Before you go any further, make sure you are using the latest version of Waves Central.

You have to have an account to use Waves Central.
You can move you license from the cloud to a thumbdrive or PC.
You can move your license from the thumbdrive to any PC and back again as many times as you want.
You can do off-line install/activation.
You can move your license back to the cloud.
You do all of the above through Waves Central and your  Waves account.

For some reason I haven't figured out yet, some people don't like Waves licensing system. While it's not the best (I like CW's old Ser # and Product # system the best) I have had zero problems with it. It works really well for me (and I hate Pace dependent licences software, so I do understand where they are coming from)

If you need anything further, just ask.

Thank you Grem! That's the most positive feedback I've gotten so far. I don't usually have anywhere near the trouble, issues, etc that I read about, so I do take a lot of it with a detached perspective. I will keep your offer in mind, definitely.

I'm glad to have these Waves and was surprised that I also had True Verb "waiting". Don't recall doing anything to get that, but I'll happily check it out! LOL

Crap...

Missed this by one day. One of the plugs I'd been wanting to license if the price ever dropped. Sale's over, price back up to the new sale price of 129 or whatever. Old program but has some great sounds. Was good luck for anyone who got in on this.

Maybe next year,
